Five major offshore wind projects are moving through planning off our east coast.
Together, they could power the equivalent of every Irish home and more, meet over half of daily electricity demand, support thousands of jobs and bring investment to coastal communities.
The wind is there. It simply blows โ and always will.

Wind energy is for everyone โ that's the message behind Global Wind Day.
As an industry, we're not just building turbines. We're building a cleaner energy system: wind working alongside solar, batteries, and smart grids to meet real demand, reliably and sustainably. We are pushing forward to ensure a safer, more stable future for our families, and their families after that.
Many wind farms across Ireland are open to community visits. Young or old, whether you're fluffy or not ๐ถ, there are wind farms around the country waiting to be explored. Some are fully accessible, some have bike trails, playgrounds, and other amenities. All of them have clean, renewable energy generated right here in Ireland.
We're proud to be part of an industry that's delivering for people and the planet.

Ever wondered how electricity pricing really works? It's not as straight-forward as you might think. Our CEO Noel Cunniffe joined Seรกn Defoe on Newstalkโs ๐๐ฆ๐ต ๐๐ฆ ๐๐น๐ฑ๐ญ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ to break down how scaling wind energy can help protect consumers from global price shocks, and bring greater security and stability to the system.
The conversation also explores how renewable auctions work and why long-term contracts are key to more predictable energy costs.

Reflecting on how the energy sector has evolved, Gerard Reid pointed to the role policy has played in making renewable energy more attractive to investors.
Mechanisms such as CFDs, feed-in tariffs and tax credits have helped unlock significant levels of capital and supported the growth of renewables across Europe.
That success is now bringing new challenges. At certain times of the day there is more electricity on the system than can be used, while at other times supply is more constrained.
In 2025, renewables generated more electricity across Europe than fossil fuels. The focus now needs to shift towards how policy and market structures evolve to support a more balanced and responsive power system.
Donegal students are among the latest recipients of the prestigious @SSE Renewables Scholarship ๐
Six students from North West Regional College in Donegal have been awarded bursaries to support them as they continue their studies.
Congratulations to Jonathan Magee, Jason LeMasurier, Noel Cavanagh, Joseph Burnett, Shane McLaughlin and Mark Killalea on this fantastic achievement.
The scholarship programme is supported through community funds linked to wind farms including Slieve Kirk Wind Park, Tievenameenta Wind Farm and Slieve Divena II Wind Farm.
Initiatives like this show how renewable energy investment can create real opportunities in local communities while helping to build the skilled workforce needed for the clean energy transition.
Best of luck to all the recipients in their studies and future careers! ๐๐จ
