Why should I have to pay for some migrant to get a free house when I can’t afford to move out
Why should I have to pay for primarily Pakistani or Bangladeshi families to have 6 kids and not work, when I can’t afford one
Why should I have to pay for someone with ADHD to get a free BMW they don’t need, when I can’t afford a car
Why is it right that for the majority of young people, we have to go to work - to pay for others who don’t work, to live a better life than what we can afford
The system is broken
We need to bring back fairness.

🚨 BREAKING: Spanish towns have JUST BANNED Muslim festivals like Eid in public spaces.
The People’s Party, backed by far-right Vox, passed the measure, claiming;
“Spain is and will forever be the land of Christian people.”
Spain is officially fighting back.
Police have been ordered by the Government to launch an enquiry into alleged offensive comments made by some of the Lionesses, during the celebrations after retaining their European title.
In particular Chloe Kelly was heard to say “I am so proud to be English” Other members of the team were also heard to make similar comments of being “proud”
2 Tier and the Home Secretary have set up a special Police Task Force. Starmer said “I was shocked by these comments, this is not who we are and we need to come down hard on this type of behaviour of far right thugs”
The Home Secretary (as usual) looked blank and said “I agree with him but I haven’t really got a clue”
Starmer also announced that he is in discussions with Spain for the trophy to be handed to the Spanish team and we pay them
50 billion pounds in reparations.
“Paying for independent schooling is undoubtedly a heavy burden, but it is not the fault of parents that a local authority is unable to provide an adequate education for their child within its own schools.” https://t.co/LuOzHaaW0U
There’s much ignorance about how the @hmtreasury education VAT gouge operates.
It’s not a tariff on schools, it’s a tariff on a class of parents who pay for but don’t use their state funded place.
Those parents have various reasons & for many the state place is inappropriate.
@vickygrayson_ Big day! You’ve been amazing highlighting the cases of many. I wish I had the time to support this cause more and tell my own horrific story regarding this, however, I’m a single mum working every spare hour to pay for my schooling bill with 20% suddenly added so can’t. Good luck
@Keir_Starmer So let’s get this right, as a single mum I’m working my socks off to my pay for own home, my child’s education and also other people homes and educations that don’t bother to go to work? Seems a fair system though doesn’t it? 🫣
Why did I choose private school?
I'm the first person in our families history to ever make that choice, and heres why.
My "choice" of state school for my children consisted of:
The most local school, 1.4 miles away, well below average on every single metric, some as much as 55% lower.
The next closest is 4.7miles away, which again has progress 8 score "well below average". Grade 5 or above in maths/English is 33% below the national average.
In fact, the only metric both meet or exceed the national average on is persistent absence.
What those arguing for the abolition of private education are saying is that my choice as a parent to use my resources to provide better for my children should be removed in the name of equality.
My children should be forced to attend one of two poor performing schools, whilst children on the other side of town who live in more expensive houses attend a school whose results are well above the national average.
My children's education and future prospect in life should be sacrificed on their altar of equality?
My job as a parent is to do the best I can for my children. That's it. Since the day they were born.
Do I think it is unfair that hundreds of children in my area don't have a choice? They are going to one of those two schools, whilst I can use my money to "escape"?
No, I don't think it is unfair. Unfair is not an adequate enough description. It's a complete national disgrace.
Every child should be able to access the best regardless of where they live. We should be raising these schools up to a level where independent schools are irrelevant, unnecessary.
The inequality in our state school system is huge. The gap between the poorest performing state schools and the best is cavernous. Much wider than the gap between state and private.
The difference in house price between where I live and the other side of town next to the "outstanding" school is double the cost of private education for 11 years. Yet if I made that choice, those arguing for abolition of private school because it allows people to "use their wealth to perpetuate inequality", would seemingly and inexplicably have no problem with that.
The ability to avoid a poor school by being able to afford a house next to a good school. This is what needs fixing. All schools should be good.
However, if you believe that my job as a father to provide the best I can for my children should be curtailed, that my children should have their choice of school boiled down to one of two failing institutions, their one chance at early education jeopardised and their future prospects in life potentially diminished, whilst @bphillipsonMP tinkers about with "free" toast & cornflakes, then, with respect, you can fuck off.
