I remember it very well. I still think of it every time I walk down the hallway in Galvin when the building is empty, nearly every time I log into an online meeting. That time will probably never leave me.
I’m not British so I don’t know all the intricacies of BBC Classical but it’s really disappointing to see the BBC Singers disbanded. To say you value choral singing and then cut the professional choir sends a terrible message to young singers and society. The arts are important.
Or as my earlier tweet said, I look forward to the time when people give one-tenth of the energy to the arts and humanities that they give to football.
And I’m not anti-sports: ask me anything about the Cubs from the 80s, or the 90s Bulls (what a time to be alive!). Let’s just think about how we can support a just and well-rounded society.
