I have been on a news feed diet since mid January, including deleting Tweeter, IG, and FB apps. It's going pretty great, and I do hope you're all doing well. The strong empath in me could not handle everyone getting sick all at once. I will be back when my kids are vaccinated.
@masknerd I unfortunately threw mine away after the adult ones said "Fish Masks" on the box and saw the manufacturers did not have FDA EUA. I still have these kid ones and the surgical style I have kept as backups, plus ONE adult KN95 I found. Happy to send to you.
A year later, the most vivid memory I have of Jan 6 is the moment I returned to the House chamber after the riot had been quelled. I stepped over broken glass to get into the chamber. What ensued over the next hour was the most powerful experience of my career. THREAD
If I optimistically assume the vaxxed won't need beds and 60% of our unvaxxed will get Omicron by end of Feb, that's still 1,350 acute care hospitalizations at a 15% hospitalization rate. Colorado will NOT be taking transfers.
Get boosted. N95s. https://t.co/jFy7hvr1PN.
@TheRealRhllor I don't want to know how COVID affects the placenta but I bet it's not great. Plus it's hard enough to breathe in the third trimester with feet in your ribs.
This is Tinsley. She was in a car accident with her humans last night. She escaped the wreckage, got the attention of police, and led them all the way back to the site of the crash. Her humans are being treated and expected to survive. Tinsley is awarded our very rare… 15/10
Me: I want to keep the glider in our room after the kids start sharing a room so I can read and relax in it.
Also me: Immediately uses glider as laundry purgatory, reads in bed.
You might not be worried about getting COVID
You may do just fine if you do
Problem is you may not do so well when surprised by a car accident, heart attack or leukemia because hospitals are struggling
Epidemics are about communities and not individuals. We share resources
We are not “learning to live with COVID”
When we give up on protecting our healthcare system, workers, the immunocompromised, and the vulnerable, in reality we are “surrendering to COVID”
There'd be more hospital beds available had 134 hospitals not closed in the last decade, mostly in the red states that refused to expand Medicaid. Their desire to harm Obamacare is now harming their constituents. Well done.
