Tips 5 & 6. During and after a disaster, inspect and monitor #livestock for injuries or other health issues – move slowly, thoughtfully, and with “safety first” in mind.
Tip 4. Your #SAFETY comes first! #Livestock may act differently during a #disaster, so don’t go it alone. Prepare by finding other skilled livestock handlers to help you. Then remind everyone of bigger livestock flight zones for the safety of all.
Tip 3. Have a plan for when a #disaster strikes. Where will you move your #livestock? Will you haul or drive them? What will you feed livestock? How will you water them? Who will handle your livestock? #WeatherReadyAg
Tip 2. Prepare by learning to identify when your animals are nervous–such as a heads-up alerted posture. Know how they might react when nervous or scared.
Tip 1. Prepare by taking steps in advance and acting early (before disaster arrives at your gate), to avoid or reduce animal panic & confusion during different types of natural disasters – such as #blizzards or #wildfires. #PrepareToProtect
