hopefully we’ll get more clear skies from here on. With so few good nights available, I decided to wrap it up at 18 hours—I’m itching to use the clear weather to shoot a few other targets.
Taken at the Shijiazhuang Observatory. I’m not a big fan of the “big ghost face” in the Eastern Veil, so I turned to the Western Veil instead.

The weather has been really odd this year—even in autumn the clouds keep rolling in wave after wave. Still, things do seem to be trending in the right direction
The universe is dropping a major show Sept 7-8—total lunar eclipse alert! ⚪️→🔴
Total lunar eclipse kicks off at 17:30 UTC—Moon dips into Earth’s dark umbra, turning that iconic blood red. Totality lasts 83 minutes (till 18:53 UTC!), with the most intense moment at 18:11 UTC.
Our customer Luc Cathala, a French planetary astrophotographer, put QHY5III678M and QHY5III178M, two cameras based on IMX678 and IMX178, to the test in a detailed comparison.
