✈️ Congratulations to @Airbus on a historic milestone!

The Airbus A350F has successfully completed its first flight over Toulouse, France, after 4h in the air. 🇫🇷

Flight AIB01LD became the most tracked flight on Wingbits, highlighting the incredible interest in this new-generation freighter.

A major moment for Airbus, the A350F program, and the future of air cargo. 🚀

EPIC ... Track it live on Wingbits

[wingbits @wingbits]

Fourteen days of navigation integrity over the South Caucasus, and it never switches off.

Between 13 and 27 August, on every single one of those fourteen days, between 4.6 and 6.3 percent of position reports from the region carried no usable navigation integrity. Not one day came in below that band.

What is notable is what it does not do. It does not pulse. It does not migrate along a corridor. It does not spike and recover. It sits there, breathing slightly, hour after hour.

Aircraft broadcast their own navigation accuracy, so we read the degradation directly. We cannot see a source and we will not claim one. And military and many state aircraft do not broadcast at all, so this is never a complete picture of what is in the sky.

Most ADS-B networks are fed by the same pool of volunteer hobbyists, and a typical hobbyist feeds several networks at once, because each one hands out a free subscription for doing it.

Which means buying a second traditional feed often buys you a second copy of the first one. You pay twice and the coverage map barely moves.

Wingbits stations are locked and verified. They feed only us. Nothing else.

That is the whole reason our data is additive rather than redundant, and it is not something you can retrofit onto a network built the other way.

[wingbits @wingbits]

A Boeing 777 left Frankfurt for Bangkok on 21 August. It never got above 14,000 feet.

Ten hours of fuel on board and a full load, and instead of climbing out east it turned southwest and started flying racetracks over Saarland.

Two of them. Thirty five minutes. Altitude held to within five feet the whole time, which is not a person flying, that is an autopilot doing exactly one job very patiently.

Squawk 7700 throughout.

Then it stepped up to 14,000, turned, and flew a dead straight line back to Frankfurt. On the ground 74 minutes after takeoff.

We can show you every turn of that track because our stations heard it directly from the aircraft. We cannot tell you why, and we are not going to guess.

Each dot is a Wingbits ADS-B station.

6,000+ of them, community hosted, across 120+ countries, capturing aircraft signals straight from the sky.

Every station is locked and verified. They feed only Wingbits.

⚠️ Flight tracking alert: @Ryanair flight #RYR72XH, reportedly operating Norwich → Malta, appears to have diverted toward Nottingham after squawking 7700.

The track has taken quite a few unexpected turns. Hopefully everyone onboard is safe. 🙏✈️

Awaiting official confirmation on what happened.

Labor Day night over the US, watched one aircraft at a time.

3,382 airborne over the lower 48 at midnight UTC. By 08:10 it was down to 482. Then it started climbing again.

Every dot is a real ADS-B track off our network, 00:00 to 09:15 UTC:

🛫 3,382 at the peak
🌙 482 at the quietest minute, never zero
📈 Back over 500 by 09:00
🏆 Denver led all weekend, 321 departures Friday alone

Hubs fill back up. The sky never empties.

Love seeing the new Wingbits Map features in action already 👀✈️

#GQ801 from Brussels to Athens, an Airbus A320-251N, squawking 7700 and descending near Munich with the emergency alert picked up live on the map. 🚨

This is exactly why we built it.

Live plane spotting. 48-hour replays. Real-time emergency squawk alerts.

The sky just got a lot more interesting to explore. 🌍✈️

[wingbits @wingbits]

New on the Wingbits Map 👀✈️

🛩️ Plane Spotting: discover and follow aircraft live
⏪ Flight Replays: go back up to 48 hours and replay the skies
🚨 Live Emergency Alerts: instantly spot aircraft squawking 7500, 7600 or 7700

The sky is moving. Now you can explore more of what’s happening in it.

Check it out on the Wingbits Map and let us know what you spot 👇

Today, @Qantas flew home the first of the new Airbus A350-1000ULR (AIB35LR), taking over 19hrs non stop.

It is to be used from next year for it's "Project Sunrise" non-stop flights from Sydney to London, a world first.

78 days of emergency transponder codes, seen by our network:

7600 (radio failure): 888
7700 (emergency): 721
7500 (unlawful interference): 48, nearly all accidental

A distress code fires somewhere every 68 minutes. All 1,657, on one map:

Once a year a Wisconsin regional airport becomes the busiest control tower on earth: about 108 landings and takeoffs an hour. Here’s a full day of it, straight from the ADS-B feed. 🛬
