@GearoidReidy Isn’t the debate over Jingu stadium about its location in “the outer gardens” of the Meiji shrine? I thought that’s the issue. Old Trafford isn’t exactly in an historic preservation zone as far as I’m aware.
@GearoidReidy I only have one request - a campaign to get tourists to use takkyubin. Japanese public transport is not designed for massive luggage - and Kuro-nekko is one of the things I love about Japan. But most tourists have not been told about the delights of couriering your luggage.
This is why the U.S. is banning TikTok or anything from China.
Just simple chats with average Chinese people on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) made numerous people in the U.S. aware of how toxic their system is.
I felt the same when I went to New Zealand. 🤣🤣🤣 - I didn’t actually, it was lovely. But going to Aukland did’t make me think, “not as fancy as Sydney or Melbourne”, because it’s a different place. I’m
Aww, I felt the same way.
So many Chinese mainland friends kept telling me: “You will love Taiwan so much, it’s so nice” etc etc.
I held off going for so long to keep it as something to look forward to…
I was so disappointed.
The greatest Japanese invention most of the world still hasn't heard of. It has long struck me as odd that Japanese washlet toilets didn't sweep the world like so much other Japanese technology - and still haven't. Although slowly slowly it seems to be happening.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confronted China's Xi Jinping about alleged human rights violations during a meeting at the Group of 20 summit in Brazil.
Chinese officials quickly interrupted and ordered British journalists out of the room https://t.co/60QnnWLj8g
@ErikSolheim He’s also very wide of the mark on covid. No independent analysis 🧐 f Chinas Covid deaths figures considers them to be close to the truth. Other countries had similar success with controlling Covid with far less draconian controls. Australia, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand.
@ErikSolheim This is surely proof of Chinas extraordinary success as an imperial expansionist power. It has gone from a small kingdom in central China in 220bc - to a mighty empire that stretches front the pacific to Central Asia. China is what the Roman Empire might have become, but didn’t
In order to promote greater regional peace and prosperity Beijing can establish itself as a role model to all by decommissioning its intermediate-range missiles and cease coercive behavior. 🙃
@ShangguanJiewen@AndyBxxx Same question I put to Andy and Cyrus - please give examples or serious and difficult news stories you have done on the ground in China - not from the comfort of your home.
@AndyBxxx Andy, Cyrus, serious question - have either of you ever tried to go and cover a serious news story in China? Please give examples. Vox pops in the street do not count.
Beijing doing a Scarborough Shoal on Sabina Shoal. Which is why it's necessary to have a constant, rotational coastguard or naval presence, not an intermittent one, to station at the feature. Large OPVs are required. Anything less than that would lead to such an outcome.
@jameswdelano At least he won a genuine majority of the popular vote this time. In the uk we have just had an election in which the winning party gained over 60 percent of the seats in parliament with just 34% of the vote. And we still call it a democracy
Taiwan in 'informal discussions' with Trump on potential mega arms deal, including Aegis destroyers, E-2D Hawkeye AEW&C planes, more Patriot anti-missile systems, and F-35 Lightning II JSFs. https://t.co/8bXmI8XaYj
