Flat Earth Proof #10: The Missing Coriolis Effect

If the Earth was truly a sphere of the proportions we are told, and it was spinning, we should be able to detect it somehow.

But we can't.

Canon Ball Testing

Army generals take claims of any type of inaccuracy with projectiles seriously. And those involved in the Crimean War in the mid-1800s conducted a test to determine if in fact they had to account for the direction of a canon ball.

They fired them in all directions. They fired them from a train. They fired them straight up ninety degrees.

In all cases, no 'Coriolis' effect was detected, and in some cases, the canon balls shot vertically actually fell back into the chamber!

"Earth is a Closed System"

This excuse is proposed by those desperate to apologize for the lack of any Coriolis effect, the lack of any air disturbances at the equator, where the Earth is supposedly spinning at over 1,000 miles per hour, and the lack of any detection by gyroscopes, which are purported to hold their position in space no matter what external changes happen.

In addition, it is impossible to claim a 'closed system', unless the system is moving in a straight line, at a consistent speed.

For example; If you're inside a car moving at 50 miles per hour, and the windows are closed, you can play catch with a small ball with the person next to you.

But if the car either
1) Turns slightly or
2) changes speed slightly ...

... your game of catch will get much more challenging.

This claim of a 'closed system' also runs contrary to both versions of 'gravity' - both Newtonian and Einsteinian. Gravity supposedly works differently the further away from the center of mass you are; the upper layers of atmosphere would not be 'pulled along' at the same exact speed as the Earth.

Your common sense should be screaming now.

The Atmosphere 'Keeps Up' With Earth's Spin?

Swirl your hand in water.

Does the water 'keep up' with your hand, or does it exhibit inertia and drag? We should see this with layers of the upper atmosphere, especially if the Earth really is spinning more than 1,000 miles per hour at the equator.

But we don't.

And the claim that upper layers of atmosphere (somehow) keep up with the spin of the Earth runs directly counter to how gravity is supposed to work.

Why?

Because gravity is supposed to be considerably weaker, the further you are from the Earth's surface.

Weights and Measures

When you were a child in school, do you remember your science teacher telling you that 'people weigh differently at different points along the Earth's surface?' Do you remember weights and measures having warnings about 'measuring mass at the equator' versus 'measuring mass in the Arctic'?

No, you don't.

And this observation by flat Earthers has Google now running cover for it, claiming that, indeed, people do weigh differently, but then also assuring them that it's 'negligible', despite the (supposed) claim that there's over a 1,000 mile per hour difference in their surface speed.

The effect shouldn't be negligible. At the extremes, you are moving over 1,000 miles per hour tangentially to the surface of the Earth. In the Arctic regions, the full 'gravity' of the Earth is pulling you down with no tangential acceleration to stop it. You should weigh considerably less at the equator.

But you don't. You weight the same.

Trust Your Senses ... and Your Common Sense

In every so-called 'proof' that you are on a spinning globe in space, the ones pushing it need you to:

1) Distrust your senses
2) Distrust your common sense

Flat Earthers don't; we're telling you to trust your senses, and to develop your own critical thinking, and to question these things. We are not asking for money, and we don't want anything from you other than for you to discover the truth for yourself.
