Déjà que laisser la Corée du Nord tester ses missiles balistiques sur les villes ukrainiennes est une aberration mais le déploiement de troupes constitue une escalade certaine et intolérable. Les rumeurs selon lesquelles ils risquent d'en envoyer à nouveau devraient nous alerter sur la réponse à apporter.
L'Europe ne doit pas accepter que la pire dictature de la Terre entraîne ses troupes en Ukraine. Et si nous ne voulons pas envoyer nous-même nos soldats pour aider à défendre l'Ukraine, alors donnons-leur au moins les moyens de se défendre efficacement et levons les restrictions inutiles.
C'est un échec moral profond pour l'Europe que de laisser faire la Russie et la Corée du Nord.

Like water vapor, CO₂ warms the atmosphere by absorbing specific narrow bands of outbound infrared radiation. But scale matters. Water vapor can make up to 4% of the atmosphere in humid tropical regions, averaging 1% to 2% globally, with clouds covering roughly 69% of the planet at any given time. Concentrations of water vapor are routinely a hundred times higher than CO₂.

Yet, despite its tiny atmospheric footprint, CO₂ is the indispensable foundation for biological life. Through photosynthesis, terrestrial plants convert sunlight, water, and CO₂ into glucose energy and oxygen, forming the backbone of every land-based food chain.
It's not just the trees. In the seas, microscopic phytoplankton drive between 50% and 85% of the world's photosynthesis and oxygen production. Furthermore, dissolved carbon is a fundamental building block for marine life, utilised by corals, shellfish, and pteropods to construct their shells.
But the physical engine of global climate isn't a trace gas at all, nor is it the thin atmospheric envelope above us. It has always been the oceans.
Covering 71% of Earth's surface to an average depth of 2.3 miles, the oceans are the world's true thermal heartbeat. Water is roughly 800 times denser than air, and the top 2.5 metres of ocean store as much heat energy as the entire atmosphere.
The oceanic world holds over 80% of Earth's mobile carbon reservoir and stores more than 93% of the climate system's retained heat energy. Oceanic currents are the planet's true air conditioning unit, endlessly transporting immense stores of tropical heat toward the poles—a global conveyor belt that takes a thousand years to complete a single circuit.
Earth is a dynamic, interactive system driven by the fundamental laws of physics and thermodynamics—not oversimplified computer models or economic spreadsheets.
The idea of a single trace gas controlling the entire biosphere unravels under the sheer weight of planetary reality.
Carbon dioxide is the foundation for life on Earth—and photosynthesis powers primary productivity across all global ecosystems.
No other substance comes close to being so critically important, and targeting CO₂ as a pollutant overlooks its fundamental role in sustaining the biosphere. Policy should focus on adaptation, resilience, and energy abundance, rather than energy restriction. But it doesn't.
At a fundamental level, plants, algae, and cyanobacteria use sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into simple sugars, releasing oxygen as a byproduct. This biochemical engine supplies the base energy and oxygen for virtually every food web on Earth.
Commercial greenhouse operators routinely elevate CO₂ concentrations to 1,000–1,500 ppm, boosting crop yields by 20–70% through enhanced photosynthetic rates and improved water-use efficiency under controlled conditions.
Atmospheric CO₂ currently sits at around 427 ppm, and this fertilisation effect is already visible globally. Satellite records (1982–present) show that rising CO₂ has driven an expansion of global green leaf area across 25% to 50% of Earth’s vegetated lands.
Global agricultural yields have increased substantially since 1960—a trend driven by agricultural innovation operating alongside elevated atmospheric carbon.
Deep-time climate history also offers useful context. During the Miocene epoch (23 to 5.3 million years ago), early hominids evolved in a warm, biodiverse world with CO₂ levels around 400–500 ppm. When modern Homo sapiens emerged during the Pleistocene, roughly 300,000 years ago, CO₂ cycled between 180 and 300 ppm.
Today’s return to >400 ppm levels is stimulating terrestrial biomass, expanding green canopy cover across India, China and semi-arid regions. Meta-analyses of experimental studies indicate that a 100 ppm increase in CO₂ typically yields a 25–50% boost in plant biomass under favorable conditions.
Debate around atmospheric carbon must recognise these biological realities. These decisions must prioritise ecological productivity and energy abundance over any policies designed to curtail carbon.

La ironía es total. Cripto nació para luchar contra el dólar y hoy lo que más se usa en cripto es el dólar tokenizado. Las stablecoins ya superan los 300.000 millones en circulación. Y como están denominadas en dólares, con ellas nadie gana ni pierde salvo uno: el emisor, que se queda con todo el interés de las reservas. Tether ganó más de 10.000 millones de dólares en 2025 y 13.000 millones en 2024, con 186.000 millones de USDT en circulación respaldados mayormente por letras del Tesoro americano. Es hoy uno de los mayores tenedores de deuda pública de Estados Unidos del mundo. Sus cientos de millones de usuarios le prestan dinero al 0% para que Tether cobre el interés.

Below this surface lies Earth’s true thermal vault. Earth is a water planet, and the oceans cover 71% of the surface to an average depth of 2.3 miles. Global ocean currents carry warm waters from the deep tropics to the northern hemisphere, before returning after a round trip of 1,000 years.
Without these currents, northern Europe would be a glacial wilderness, just like Greenland.
The scale is colossal. Warm waters from the Roman warm period (240 BC to 400 AD) are still returning to the mid-latitudes. The atmosphere, by comparison, is a gaseous envelope that retains almost no thermal energy, holds a tiny fraction of the planet's carbon, and is largely controlled by ocean dynamics.
The deep Pacific itself is so massive that only now it is receiving the cold waters from the Little Ice Age. We aren't starting from scratch; we are mid-cycle in a 4.6-billion-year-old time machine.
We’ve also reinvented 'climate'. Once, it was a word for the local weather of robins and sparrows. Now it's a global ideological abstraction. We’ve lost our admiration for the natural world. We count CO₂ in parts per million while ignoring the satellite-proven greening of the Sahel.
It’s time to move past the light breezes and offshore winds and look into the ocean depths for answers. Ask yourself, is the 1.4°C warming since 1850 really an unprecedented crisis?

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger pushed back against the trend of musicians delivering political speeches from the stage, following Bruce Springsteen’s recent anti-Trump remarks.
Speaking in a Saturday interview on The New York Times’ podcast, Jagger said fans come to shows for an escape:
“The bottom line of my thing really is that my job in the live music world is for those people that come is to have the best time they possibly can. For two hours or whatever it is, to forget all their problems and the problems of the world… You don’t want to lecture them.”
