One of Bangladesh's most popular teachers and the founder of AMADER SCHOOL, Fahad Sir, has been arrested.
In a chilling act of oppression, a beloved teacher and a beacon of hope for students across Bangladesh has been unjustly arrested from his coaching center, CHARULOTA INTERNATIONAL, near Mirpur 10 around 2:30 PM, today. Before his arrest, authorities violated human rights by checking his phone without consent, further showcasing the lengths to which this government will go to stifle opposition. His unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and voices of youth during recent protests has made him a target for a regime that fears the rising call for change. This is not just an assault on one man; it is a grave injustice against the ideals of education, freedom, and democracy that we hold dear. Arresting a dedicated educator without any legal basis sends a troubling message: that speaking out for justice is a crime. The real crime lies in silencing those who dare to inspire the next generation to dream of a brighter, more just future. In a time when our youth need champions, silencing their advocates is both unfair and a dire threat to the future of democracy in our nation. As we witness this stark reality, we must unite in demanding accountability and stand in solidarity with all who fight for the right to voice their beliefs.

“Expand the prisons, sir; by the upcoming time, we’ll be twice as many.” Here’s an interesting fact: Bangladesh has a total of 68 prisons—13 central and 55 district prisons. The total capacity is 42,866. However, by December 2023, the population of pre-trial detainees and remand prisoners in Bangladesh was 84,855, nearly double the capacity! Meanwhile, the youth are getting into prison vans with smiles on their faces.
