A beautifully spiralled Grove snail in Galway today. DNA analysis of Irish specimens suggests that these snails' origins lie in the eastern Pyrenees & that they may have been introduced to Ireland by Mesolithic hunter gathers, possibly as a food source https://t.co/qOtrMsQSXv

Look at this charming Decretum Gratiani XXIII B 4 from first half of the 13th century from southern Europe! The painter did not have time to complete the color decoration of the individual illuminations. And I think they can be used as unique relaxation coloring books. Try it!
Could this be Henry VIII?
One of the manuscripts loaned by @britishlibrary to the new Gold and Glory exhibition at Hampton Court.

Mosaic of the Three Graces, with intersecting
circles forming a four petal rosette. Made in the 3rd-4th century in the Roman city of Barcino (nowadays Barcelona).
I got to see it in person yesterday at the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia
We love miscellanies!
It's a catch-all definition for manuscripts that contain texts on a variety of subjects.

This is a fantastic list for anyone looking to expand their palette of choral repertoire. It already features some great performances that got me obsessed with vocal polyphony years ago from Sequentia and “Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares”. 😍 thank you for this @TommasiniNYT
I know it’s been asked before, but why is the standing assumption among medievalists that any ‘unknown artist’ must have been a man? I’m as guilty of that as anyone; when I imagine a scriptorium it is full of monks. I’m going to switch that up from now on: https://t.co/Giu2gljefv
