Winter found fame as the main vocalist, lead dancer and visual genius of aespa, one of the the top-selling most popular K-pop girl groups of the Era. She is one of the best female singers in the Kpop music industry, trained vocally by SM Entertainment's vocal coach Yoo Young-jin, and is known for her iconic high notes like in aespa's 2021 hit "Next Level" which had critics raving about her vocal control and ability to deliver the challenging line with such significant impact, contributing greatly to the track's viral success and overall appeal. The performance cemented Winter's status as a top vocalist and standout talent in K-pop! She is also a very charismatic performer and incredible dancer, trained by Waackxxxy, a South Korean dancer who specializes in waacking! She has contributed greatly to aespa's flawless synchronicity and amazing live performances, shining at the Governors Ball, and at Coachella! She's an amazing "all-rounder" for balancing outstanding vocals, amazing dance moves and gorgeous visuals. She's also a real musician, and can play both the guitar and the piano! Winter often tops or ranks high in girl group member brand reputation rankings and gets huge social media engagement! Her fanbase has grown rapidly along with her individual Instagram followers! Winter was discovered by an SM talent scout while performing at a dance festival at Yangsan Samsung Middle School in 2016. She dropped out of high school and immediately began training. After passing her GED exam, she became the first member of aespa in 2020! The group debuted on November 17, 2020 with the single, "Black Mamba", with Winter excelling on vocals. The song's video reached 21.4 million views in 24 hours, scoring the most views for a K-pop group debut MV! On December 6, 2020 Winter shone, paying tribute to the legendary BoA on her 20th anniversary, performing a cover of her song "ID; Peace B" at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards! In 2022, Winter debuted with Karina in the supergroup 'Got the Beat' with Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Hyoyeon, Red Velvet's Wendy and Seulgi and BoA. The group made their debut on New Year's Day at the 2022 SM Town Live Concert with "Step Back" which went viral and became the fastest female idol fancam in history to amass 10 million views in just 25 days! That same year, Winter released "One Again" with Ningning as part of the OST for the K-drama 'Our Blues'. The song reached #119 on the Gaon Digital Chart! In December, she sang in "Jet" and "Priority" at the 2022 Winter SM Town: SMCU Palace! In 2023, Winter released "Floral sense", a collab with Super Junior's Yesung which reached #62 on the Circle Download chart! Winter and Yim Si-wan were named the ambassadors of the 2024 World Team Table Tennis Championships in their hometown Busan, and released "Win For You" on September 21, 2023 as the event's official theme song. In November, 2023, Winter released a collab with (G)I-dle's Soyeon and IVE's Liz, titled "Nobody" which reached #11 on the circle Download chart. That same month, she released the song "Voyage" from the Castaway Diva OST and in December she released "With You" from the 'My Demon' OST! On April 2, 2024, Winter dropped the single "Officially Cool" with Bang Yedam! On October 24, 2024, Winter released her amazing self-written and self-composed dance-pop hit "Spark" from aespa's special digital single album 'Synk: Parallel Line' and reached #100 on the Circle Digital chart! In 2025, she dropped "Blue" from aespa's 2nd digital single album 'Synk: Aexis Line', and hit #96 on the Circle Digital chart!

Winter has been endorsed by several brands, and on October 13, 2023, she became the brand ambassador of the South Korean skincare and cosmetics brand Mamonde. Her most prominent individual ambassadorship is with Polo Ralph Lauren, where she has been the official Korean ambassador since November 2023. She has actively represented the brand through photoshoots, magazine covers for Vogue Korea, Harper's Bazaar Korea, Cosmopolitan Korea, and star appearances at events like the Ralph Lauren Spring 2025 fashion show in the US where she was a huge hit! In December 2023 she became the global ambassador of Korean cosmetics brand 'Espoir'! On April 1, 2024, she became the new model for the South Korean isotonic drinkToreta.

Winter is very much into charity and has made notable individual contributions, especially for disaster relief. In March 2025, she donated ₩100 million ($$75,000 USD) to support victims of the wildfires in South Korea, highlighting her commitment to helping affected communities and firefighters. In November 2025, Winter together with aespa, donated 500,000 HKD ($64,000 USD) to the Hong Kong Red Cross for victims of a deadly apartment fire. Winter's fans often organize charity projects for her birthday or milestones, such as donations to children's causes, Animal welfare, and Environmental efforts like expanding bench gardens in the Seoul Forest.
