Building a startup means balancing empathy and sustainability.
A user in Nigeria๐ณ๐ฌ asked for a free month of my AI app so he could try to earn money with it first.
I want to say yes to everyone, but the business must survive to keep serving users.

The top 3 metrics for an AI app are:

- customer acquisition cost
- retention
If users are highly sensitive to token prices, you are probably building a business for the model provider, not for yourself.
Traditional SaaS gets cheaper at scale because fixed costs spread across more users.
While AI apps have a different curve: usage brings variable inference costs back into the equation. The more users love your product, the more tokens they consume.
Many AI startups are not software businesses yet. They are model resellers with a subscription layer.
When your costs track tokens and your revenue is fixed, every pricing change upstream becomes your problem.
