. @mkituuma "Police, working jointly with sister security agencies, have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of two children from Bujowali Zone, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District today 17 sept 2026.

The first two suspects arrested are Odongo Richard and Derick Nkuruziza. A firearm, suspected to have been used in the commission of criminal activities, was recovered during the operation. The joint security team has also arrested Kasaija Dan, alleged to be the overall commander of the group and to have been receiving and withdrawing ransom money in Kampala.

The case arose on 7 September 2026 at about 7:00 p.m., when two armed and masked men allegedly attacked the home of Mr Mugabanya in Bujowali Zone while he was away. The children were reportedly watching television under the care of domestic workers at the time.

The assailants allegedly injured the domestic workers as they raised alarm, confined them in a bedroom, and fled with two of the children. The kidnappers later allegedly demanded a ransom of UGX 100 million.
