Although a daunting task, the Ebonites quickly became the go-to place for black students and boasted members from a variety of backgrounds to continue to push for what mattered to them. @winthropu @winthropalumni

Patricia Ware Brown founded the Association of Ebonites in 1969 as a support and advocacy group for African American at Winthrop. Mrs. Brown stated that she felt Black students needed a voice and people needed to stop looking at African Americans as if they were invisible.

anniversary this year. Come out to see the AAMS exhibit that features memorabilia of the program over the years and its founder, the late Dr. Dorothy Perry Thompson.
