No matter what ProFascist MAGAs claim about the No Kings rally, whether it be who funded or sponsored the event, you can’t escape the fact that the reason millions and millions of people were protesting because they don’t approve of Presidents Trump’s leadership and the complicit Republican Congress
Spin as you wan, but among their grievances…
Higher prices with tariff declarations by one person
Job losses for not pledging loyalty to the President,
Pardons for guilty Congressional Members because they voted “Republican”
A CDC we can no longer Trust, Diseases like The Measles and Polio making a comeback due to misinformation to the General Public,
tax cuts for Billionaires,
Healthcare Premiums Doubling,
American Citizens getting detained and many arrested for looking like "an illegal",
DEI Cabinet Members who have no experience running their areas,
Weaponized DOJ who spend their days going after Trump's enemies
A President covering up the Epstein List and calling it a "Democratic Hoax
A President who has pardoned 100's of violent criminals back onto the streets (many which have been arrested for other crimes),
Controlling and suing the media for any story that's unflattering, A weaponized FCC cancelling comedians for any joke that's unflattering..
I'm sure there is more, but the rational middle gets it even if the Rafical MAGAs don’t.
Your framing vs. reality
• There wasn’t a broad “1940s loophole allowing straight people to commit statutory rape without consequence.” Vaginal cases were (and are) still prosecutable crimes. The difference was only in post-conviction registry discretion for close-in-age scenarios.
• Wiener’s approach was equalization by extending discretion, not “expanding loopholes for LGBT predators.” The underlying offense stayed illegal for everyone. Opponents wanted to close the existing discretion for straight vaginal cases too (i.e., make registration mandatory across the board). That’s a legitimate policy debate about priorities: equal treatment vs. maximum deterrence for adult-minor sex.
• “Predators” is loaded here. The narrow carve-out targeted Romeo-and-Juliet-type scenarios (e.g., 19 with 17), not much older adults grooming young teens. Larger gaps or younger victims stayed mandatory. Whether judges exercise discretion wisely is a separate enforcement/cultural issue.
This was a classic equity-vs.-protection tradeoff. Treating different sexual acts unequally under the law created an oddity in a post-sodomy-law era, but expanding any discretion for sex with 14–17 year olds understandably alarms people concerned about adult predation. The better long-term fix would be consistent strict standards applied evenly, with registration tied to actual risk rather than act-specific technicalities. But misrepresenting it as “Wiener legalized LGBT statutory rape” or me “defending predators” doesn’t match the bill text or history.
Very lame opinion piece from a lame radical RW outlet….
“Desperate for an alternative” is doing a lot of work here.
It was a Democratic primary in a state Democrats dominate. That’s not “one-party rule collapsing,” it’s Democrats arguing with Democrats over how to run a state they still control from top to bottom.
A competitive primary isn’t a political realignment—it’s just math.
@AnnieForTruth Using Scott Bessent’s “logic”, during year 2 of Biden’s presidency, when inflation was heading over 9% year to year, then that must have been Trump’s fault …right? Maybe someone needs to confirm that next time someone continues to reflect their BDS.
@gagnon_jea83610@RepThomasMassie@JesseBWatters@DonnaPrissyrn1 You must have missed the part in the speech where he said…, “I didn’t come to Washington to trade my principles for political favors.”. He’s said this multiple times. Apparently, that offends you. 😕
Funny how every investigation involving Trump’s allies is “lawfare,” but every investigation involving his opponents is “justice.”
At some point, if everyone who gets investigated is a victim and everyone who prosecutes them is corrupt, you’re not describing a legal system anymore, you’re describing a cult.
Imagine thinking refusing to worship a politician is a lack of integrity.
Massie didn’t brag about taking Trump’s call — he said he wouldn’t compromise his principles for political favors. In a town where politicians sprint to kiss the ring, that’s called independence.
You don’t have to agree with him, but confusing loyalty to one man with integrity is exactly how politics turns into a fan club. Wake up “Jeanette”.
Ah yes, because Iran was apparently being ‘kept under control’ for decades by the same foreign policy geniuses who brought us endless wars, missed intelligence, and surprise nuclear programs. But sure, tell me more about how everything was perfect until five minutes ago. Also, if we’re handing out nicknames, ‘History-Challenged Guy’ seems more accurate. 🙄🤡
Thanks for asking!!,
60 Minutes averaged about 9.1 million viewers per week during the 2025–26 season.
The broader audience for broadcast-network news skews older; the median age of regular CBS News consumers is about 58 years old.
Nielsen data for individual episodes often showed roughly 2–3 million viewers in the 25–54 demographic out of total audiences of 9–14 million.
Principles? He’s got a few. One is not bending the knee to every populist flavor of the month just to stay in the cool kids club.
You call it grandstanding, He calls it voting with his oath instead of his poll numbers. Sorry if that bruises your feelings, champ.
And the ‘frat boy bragging’ line is rich coming from someone simping for the guy who turned the GOP into his personal fan club. Run along now— the echo chamber needs its daily affirmation.”
Grifter? Sister, if he wanted easy money he’d just vote for whatever bloated spending bill they float on the floor every week like your “rubber stamp whatever the f Trump wants” smoothbrain MAGAs apparently do.
@Raskolnikovpx4@RedPillSweep@maddenifico You have a whole network that plays biased rightists on it 24 x 7 so why is it you think a “biased leftist” should not be on TV? Funny how the people demanding free speech are always the first to melt down when someone says something they don’t like. 🤡🙄
@TimS42850427@JerryDunleavy@JimMuessig Australian commentator much? The facts came out, the story changed, but apparently the narrative was too good to let go.
@ThomasPain_6771@JerryDunleavy@JimMuessig Nothing says ‘follow the facts’ quite like clinging to a hate-crime narrative after the suspect turns out to be the victim’s husband. Apparently some people fact-check with vibes
