#BloodVessel now showing on @NetflixNaija and produced by @playstudiosafr directed by @sneezemankind is a dramatic, searing and fractured thriller. It is a high pressure cooker that slowly boils the lives of 6 young people of Nigerian Niger- Delta extraction.

Sailing against the backdrop of the well documented environmental devastation by western crude oil extraction companies in the region, this motion picture chronicles the desperation of these young men and woman trying to escape their various personal storms for a smooth sailing life and they must do this at sea.

Somehow in this midst of this unending chaos, there is a very fragile and threatened love relationship that is about to drown in the sea of uncertainty. A new kid on the screen block @AdaobiDibor puts on a really brave display of passion and pulsation alongside @DavidEzekiel655 who plays Abbey.

The performances of the main characters are strong and memorable. It’s great to see my friend @iamjidekene grow in really challenging roles. His performance packs a punch.

As the picture progresses, it becomes clear that the quest for Shangri La becomes a survival showpiece with all the accoutrements of blood and bewilderment.

I really liked how the picture was photographed - there’s a lot of strong contrast and silhouettes are vastly explored.
The sound and dialogue holds its own.

#BloodVessel is filled with tempestuous tragedy and will tug at you along its course. The film also explores the themes of survival, spirituality, brotherhood, family, betrayal, desperation and brutality.

At times, you are left with more questions especially with the existence of time and plausible happenstances. It is not without its cinematic imperfections.

For me, I’m always out to embrace the ‘cinematic paths less traveled’ in #Nollywood This was a brave attempt to ‘yearn for the open sea’
