I agree with this point, but she did not consent to sex with anyone. She arrived at the frat house drunk. Bargaining is a stage of trauma processing so she may have said she consented to some things as a way to take back power. From the moment she walked in, she could not consent
The Cornell rape case is exactly why slut shaming & stigmatizing consensual casual sex is rape culture. Her consenting to sex with one or two ppl does not mean she’s there for anyone else but slut shaming suggests if you want a threesome you should expect the rest
Can everyone stop saying that Jane Doe consented to the 3some? Trauma causes denial and bargaining in the beginning stages. Her saying she consented to some things was her bargaining to cope, and she has since realized because she arrived drunk that nothing was consensual at all.
sending a huge, warm hug to every survivor who might be sad or upset or scared because of the cornell case and the horrific comments that m*n are making towards survivors. please know that you are so loved and please think of me as a safe space if you need to talk. 🫂
Sometimes sexual assault victims lie to themselves about what happened because then you don’t have to deal with the weight of that realization and what can come from it.
Logging out. Sending love to Jane Doe, I support and believe you. This has all been so re-traumatizing and watching people call her a liar genuinely had pushed me to the verge of throwing up irl. I can’t take it
Hey. If you’re triggered af by every new detail re: Cornell, I see you. If it’s making social media hell for you right now, I hear you. Remember that it’s ok to take breaks, mute words, don’t read replies, and get extra support. Take care of you, please. You deserve it. 🖤
Thank you, this has been so triggering and painful. It’s like it’s happening all over again and I never even came out with my story but seeing them call her a liar feels like IM being called one too. I believe Jane Doe because I am Jane Doe, we are all Jane Doe.
Absolutely gut-wrenching time to be on socials right now. And I don’t just mean twitter. Every social media app is full of people baring their worst trauma in response to the Cornell incident, only for the most disgusting people on the planet to say those men did nothing wrong
one of the hardest things about living with sexual trauma is being re-traumatized every time there’s a heavily publicized case in the news. watching people litigate and demonize other victims. makes you wonder what the point of any of it is, if it’s even worth speaking up at all.
not to get too #real on here, but being a woman online feels like a slow descent into madness. Like it actually feels like self harm. I feel crazy just seeing the filth and depravity men are capable of. How can I be expected to live amongst them? When I know what they do?
