Instead of removing “man” in professions like policeman, why don’t we invent new words to indicate other genders including male? e.g. XOMAN, YOMAN, ZOMAN all sound like good friends with WOMAN. If all genders fall into 5 letters, then “man” would actually sound gender neutral.

For professions we can find nice replacements like firefighter for fireman, and police officer for policeman. But in other situations it’s still hard to feel gender neutral. For example, craftsmanship - I’m not sure if “craftership” or “craftspersonship” would be correct words 🤔
