Flu virus has been modified to treat pancreatic cancer.
Scientists have reprogrammed a flu virus to seek out and destroy one of the world’s deadliest cancers – and early results are promising.
Pancreatic cancer is among the most aggressive forms of cancer, with a five-year survival rate of just 8.5%. It spreads quickly, resists treatment, and often goes undetected until it’s too late. But researchers at Queen Mary University of London may have found a surprising new weapon: the flu.
The team engineered a modified version of the influenza virus to do something extraordinary – infect only cancer cells, not healthy ones. They achieved this by adding a specific protein that binds to a molecule called alpha v beta 6, found almost exclusively on pancreatic cancer cells. Once inside, the virus multiplies until the cell bursts – killing the tumor from within.
Even more promising: the virus replicates and spreads to nearby cancer cells, repeating the process again and again.
The researchers tested the virus in mice with human pancreatic tumors. It worked. Tumor growth stopped, with minimal side effects. And by engineering the virus to survive in the bloodstream, the treatment could one day target tumors that have spread throughout the body – not just localized ones.

They aren't going to lower the flags in this country for the 3 police officers from my local PD who were gunned down by a 24 year old with an AR.
These dudes were actual heroes, since it seems like people have forgotten what actual heroism looks like
Coexisting positions:
✅Political violence is totally unacceptable
✅It's perfectly acceptable for a private company to punish an employee for what he says about political violence
✅It's totally unacceptable for the federal gov to pressure a company into making that decision
