Dear X Leadership, US Leadership @nikitabier
Türkiye Leadership @yagiznizipli
We are living in a time when artificial intelligence allows anyone to create content, generate images, and share information instantly. I do not have a problem with people using AI to create content or visuals and sharing them on X.
The real problem begins when AI is used to create fake expertise, fake business success, or a commercial history that never existed.
My name is Barış Karakaya. I live in Türkiye, and I have been selling internationally through platforms such as Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, and other global e commerce marketplaces. I can provide verifiable and documented records covering approximately five years of commercial activity and millions of dollars in legitimate sales.
What concerns me most is this. In Türkiye, there are people who do not have an Etsy shop, do not run an Amazon business, do not sell on Walmart, and have no real history in international e commerce, yet they present themselves on X as successful experts. They use AI generated images, fake revenue screenshots, fabricated success stories, and misleading claims to create the illusion of experience, credibility, and business success.
Unfortunately, Türkiye does not always receive the same level of attention or scrutiny from platforms such as Etsy, Amazon, or even X that larger Western markets receive. Yet Türkiye is a very large country in terms of social media engagement.
Many people in Türkiye work for only 500 or 600 dollars a month. When someone appears on X claiming to make 5,000 dollars, 10,000 dollars, or far more every month through Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, or international e commerce, this is not always just content creation. In many cases, the hopes and dreams of financially vulnerable people are being exploited.
For the past year and a half, I have personally fought against this culture of fake expertise. During that time, I have been insulted, attacked, and targeted in ways that affected not only me, but also my family. Eventually, I became exhausted and decided to stop sharing anything about Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, or international e commerce on X.
My request is simple.
Please ask your Türkiye team, or the relevant safety, integrity, moderation, or regional teams, to review high engagement accounts in Türkiye that claim expertise or business success in Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, and international e commerce.
I also believe similar reviews should be considered in countries such as Türkiye, India, Pakistan, China, and other markets where large audiences can be influenced by fabricated online success stories.
AI generated content itself is not the problem. The problem begins when AI is used to create a fake identity, fake expertise, fake commercial history, and fake financial success in order to gain followers, influence, money, or trust.
If X truly wants to remain a platform where knowledgeable, honest, experienced, and credible people can build a voice and be heard, then this issue deserves serious attention.
I am not asking for special treatment.
I am asking for accountability.
Sincerely,
Barış Karakaya
