There's a strange few mile stretch in Essex county that's chuck full of new growth. This wasn't a logging project however, this was a densely forested area flattened, debarked, and dusted. poor house road is the most extreme new growth scar from a tornado I've ever seen in VA.

Embedded within the areas of the Monongahela region is a town known as Mingo Flats. This is now a small village that has a few abandoned buildings. It was originally a town named after the Mingo tribe, who had settled in the same area.
