@mauddweeb Honestly though, of all the things, I think that would be really funny and I'd watch it. Kind of like 'Shakespeare set in the Wild West' vibes.
And I'm a notorious hater when it comes to being true to original stories.
@allie__voss Honestly, yes; by the time both people are at least thirty who cares?
People grow and change oc, but 'maturity' in the sense where it's problematic or not in relationships is pretty much sigmoid.
@mauddweeb Very meta.
...and you're partly correct, but also assortative mating is a thing.
So do the particulars matter to guys? No. Is the Waffle House pairing likely? Also no.
In a world with endemic cheating, my SciComp professor is going to know for sure that I and I alone did this homework....
Only a human could write code this ugly.
Most men support nuclear power.
Most women oppose it or say they’re just not sure.
A lot of this stems from the fact that when faced with a lack of information, men will jump head first and women will stop and ask questions.
We’re naturally more cautious, it’s a good thing in many instances!
But with nuclear power (and honestly power in general) we can end up SUPER susceptible to rhetoric around things like “toxic nuclear waste” that make energy projects sound way scarier than they are
@PAHoyeck I couldn't have physically managed that, but I did once have a literature class that was so unchallenging that I made it a game to research, draft and edit all the shorter papers in under three hours.
@rastokke@C_Hendrick Judging by the (very skewed sample of) teachers I know, this would nudge our few remaining high quality teachers out, because they find being forced to use mediocre curricula infuriating.
On the other hand, it would drastically limit the damage the incompetent teachers can do.
@mrdavidrowe NET is great for in-depth study.
I like the notes on the HCSB.
The KJV is best for memorization because the language is beautiful/easy to remember.
ESV is a good compromise for church/daily use.
@SomethingLatin@Kierkegaarddd No, it's making the rounds in areas which haven't been innoculated against it yet.
Herman Hesse I just barely could have tolerated by a supreme effort of will I think, but JLS was beyond the pale.
@AStratelates Well, on the one hand, I would enjoy it (generally find your takes edifying/amusing/interesting), but I feel guilty about encouraging someone to engage in what I view as a net negative activity.
@chadg_pt@Squattocrat I agree that it's fluid intelligence that matters most, but crystallized intelligence and fluid are correlated, and what you know (vs. what you can figure out) does matter some in daily life, so I wouldn't say that it's unimportant.
@chadg_pt@Squattocrat Actually, vocabulary size is correlated with IQ, but that one is, admittedly, not a great test.
But if anyone genuinely expects that from a random internet quiz that in itself is a kind of IQ proxy
@PstafarianPrice Some of them are pretty obscure. You just have to intelligently guess based on the roots, or dim memories of maybe hearing the word once.
(Also a lot of us are cruelly aware that being hyper verbal doesn't mean as much for general intelligence as we might wish.)
Everyone: Why are you still single?
Me: Because I'm not really all that smart but, just as an example, one time a guy asked me what 'postmodernism' meant and any and all attraction instantly left my body.
