Abigail Maurier — Allison Inquiry

Nicole Maurier testified that her 24-year-old daughter, Abigail, was a healthy, athletic cardiology technologist working for Alberta Health Services.

After AHS introduced its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, Abigail sought a medical exemption but was denied. Her family doctor advised her that the Pfizer vaccine was safe and effective, and she received doses on September 15 and October 15, 2021.

In March 2023, doctors discovered tumours throughout her body, including in her lung and chest. She was diagnosed with NUT carcinoma, an extremely rare and rapidly progressing cancer. Nicole testified that one tumour doubled in size within two weeks. Abigail died six weeks after her diagnosis, aged 24.

Nicole also testified that Abigail’s longtime doctor later completed a Vaccine Injury Support Program assessment and recorded the condition as occurring “post-COVID-19 vaccination.”

According to Nicole, the doctor also later said that physicians had faced professional pressure regarding the granting of medical exemptions.
