Every morning when the coast is clear for the rest
I try to swim against the waves in the Devil's Nest
Up there your smile shines like the Sun on my face
I hide in denial, "Who is the creator in this case?"
Truth may be deceiving as they say
But I put myself in the smoke everyday
sometimes I wonder,
if you ever lift your head up to sky to find the moon on darker nights
and if so, whether your body starts to tingle as well,
whether you feel the urge to tear the sky open
and escape this cage.
It’s been a while since I wrote,
Nothing in this world gives me hope.
Strangers say, “You’re lucky man, just act cold.”
Yet they don’t see I’m all covered in mud while searching for gold.
no one’s built
for endless joy
no one’s chained
to endless pain
we’re made of both
and that’s the point
so breathe
in the dark
breathe
in the light
they’re the same tide
pulling you alive
moon’s still there
even when it fades
at dawn
i see it, soft
behind the haze
you think it’s gone
but it’s not
like us
good, bad,
every piece a pulse
every crack a door
It is hope that consumes you the most,
Such fire warms yet burns the host.
Though one pursues the dreamer’s art,
The dream betrays and breaks the heart.
soil shifts
the dirt is hungry for flesh and bones
in the end it’s our final destination
yet we can’t escape the question
where does the soul go
a fragile silhouette
shadowing the devils
but now all fingers are on ‘em
screaming
you are evil
one last winter,
tinged with soot
