@JamesWHankins1 « Age of Paine » is a great label, though. Backward thanks to John Adams. The guy’s writings changed history, in important ways, some of them beneficial. « Age of » reminds me of Trevor-Roper much later calling the 16th century the « Age of Erasmus ». Candidates for own time?

🇬🇧 British Army (74k troops): We have a "recruiting crisis". There are too few volunteers. People don't want to join the military.
🇮🇹 Italian Army (94k troops): 9,800 volunteers joined and we had to send 59,000 volunteers away, because we hit our annual recruiting goal in March.
