I agree and home ec in my school taught basic banking as well which is needed. Bring back some of this stuff. Maybe career development or at least steer people away from nonsense College or University courses that wont get them a job. Some need to be steered towards skilled trades

@docabbit @Nofgivenatall Well with the down payment and the high cost of housing and mortgage rates it would be difficult to find a mortgage at $900 a month however yes if you are paying $2100 you dont have the down payment and cant save for it you are kind of hooped. It is a vicious circle

During the 7th and 8th centuries, the Umayyad Caliphate expanded incredibly fast, stretching from India across North Africa and up into Spain (Al-Andalus). The furthest north these armies ever pushed into Western Europe was into modern-day France. They were famously stopped at the Battle of Tours (732 CE) by a Frankish leader named Charles Martel. The armies that Martel fought were a mix of Arabs and North African Berbers (often referred to by European writers of the era as "Moors"). They never crossed the English Channel, and Anglo-Saxon Britain remained entirely outside of their geographic reach.
