The Taiwanese and Chinese Coast Guards were engaged in another tense standoff near the strategically located Pratas Islands at the top of the South China Sea on Friday, Taiwan said, the second time in a fortnight that this has happened. https://t.co/OSEaqr2yfW

@dennisw5 We shall see. Agree 100% that the relationship as a whole is problematic and of very limited utility for China. I could well be wrong, and this could be just an anniversary commemoration "face trip". But I still suspect he could have sent some underling in that case...
China said President Xi Jinping would visit North Korea on a two-day trip from June 8, his first in nearly seven years as Beijing looks to reassert ties with Pyongyang, its only formal treaty ally https://t.co/QyZnmMjphN
This graduation season, Chinese university seniors are turning their thesis acknowledgement sections into a tribute to campus food — and posting them online.
Traditionally, the section is reserved for thanking supervisors, family, and friends. But on social media, it’s being repurposed as a nostalgic “menu” of what students ate during their time at university. Chicken feet, late-night noodles, cafeteria sets, milk tea, and nearby takeout favorites often show up in lists designed to look like research data. It captures the emotional connections to food that comforted them during intense academic years — quick meals after late-night study sessions, familiar cafeteria dishes between classes, and small treats that made stressful days feel more manageable.
The trend has gained attention on social platform Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote. Most of these are not part of actual submitted theses, but they’re written in a deliberately serious, academic style — which is part of the joke.
For many students, it’s part coping mechanism, part nostalgia, and part unofficial campus food guide for the next wave of students. Late-night meals and everyday snacks get elevated into something that looks almost worthy of citation.
The result is a lighthearted twist on a formal tradition: the thesis acknowledgement becomes less about polite thanks alone, and more like a personal highlight reel of university life — told one meal at a time.
Every year, Pride Chicago picks an organization to lead the city's annual Pride Parade. This year, it's the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, which has been at the forefront of the fight for health in the LGBTQ+ community for decades. https://t.co/YQSB8qvNzf
