@wksdraycott Morning guys! Keep up the pace, you've done so well so far! Well over half way now, onto the homeward stretch. Think of being able to sleep in a comfy bed tonight
@wksdraycott Morning DofEers! Happy next day of walking, keep supporting each other. Well done so far! You'll remember your DofE experience for years to come
@ElklanTraining Please help!
Our TALC assessment scores don't match up between the record forms & manual provided... There's also a discrepancy between total scores & the pass mark.
Please get in touch
Thanks! @wksgilmartin @wksmellors
This week social communication target is 'Being Relevant' 👈Try naming in categories to target this skill. Categories include (increasing difficulty); food, rooms, body parts, birds, buildings, insects, businesses, plants, textures, currency, languages, religions, traditions
This weeks social communication target is 'turn taking' You can take turns when washing the dishes🍽️but it's a bit more fun when playing games🎲! Have a go at Headbandz (asking questions to guess an object/person). There are lots of other games too! @SpinMaster@WestKirbySchool
What a great resource from @SLT_Worcs. Something we can really use when in school and the resources linked are appropriate for our pupils! @WestKirbySchool @wksmellors @wksgilmartin @wkscallaghan
This weeks social communication target is Listening to Each Other👂🦻. During the #coronavirus#lockdown we need to support each other+listen. Anxious, worried, nervous, scared. It is important to listen to worries + sort into what we can+can't control to help with these feelings
This weeks social communication target is Eye Contact 👀and Body Language🧍. Have a go at practising these skills while playing roll the dice 🎲and answering the questions. (you can use as many dice as you want). Use Social Thinking theory to help! @WestKirbySchool
This weeks social communication target is winning/ losing and compromise 🤝Compromise means you win a little bit and you lose a little bit. It can be difficult to compromise but it makes things fair. This is really important at the moment! As we are spending lots of time together
This weeks social communication target is idioms, inference and humour🧐😁. Can you create a treasure hunt, using riddles they have to decipher to find the prize? Riddles require them to use their inference skills and it's lots of fun @WestKirbySchool@GivingVoiceUK@SLT_Worcs
This week's social communication target is taking turns. Have a go at playing a game (eg. tag) remembering to take turns. Try to use the Social Behaviour Mapping, this can help set some rules and expectations making it more successful
@WestKirbySchool@socialthinking
I really can't thank @WestKirbySchool the support from all staff has just been above and beyond we are so grateful from our phone calls checking how we all are,to online lessons even in the easter holidays.Harv is missing school so much,which I never thought would happen!Thank u
@WordAware@SLT_Worcs@GivingVoiceUK@RCSLTpolicy @wksgilmartin Ohh that is such a good idea, something I think would work for work calls with pupils (especially to give them to extra processing time) as well as family calls. I will definitely be having a go at this thank you
We can still be social at a distance (It's all about the semantics as a Speech and Language Therapist!). Such lovely ideas from @SLT_Worcs Thank you 😊👍
@GivingVoiceUK@RCSLTpolicy@WordAware @wksgilmartin
16 everyday activities that count as part of your learning! This is real life homeschooling 🎒Try and give some of these activities a go. Lots of fun things to break up the day 👍 @WestKirbySchool
A great resource! Especially useful when explaining to parents who are schooling at home why/what demands they are seeing in order to give them supportive strategies. @WestKirbySchool
What demand avoidant approaches might you see with #PDA?
There is usually a ‘hierarchy’ of avoidance approaches as illustrated in this diagram. Understanding this hierarchy is key when thinking about effective ways to help.
Pls see https://t.co/FOIibk816y for more information.
@wkslambert@WestKirbySchool@Hasbro @storycubes @ugames_uk @wksgilmartin @WordAware Very much agreed! For parents/older kids, we have put 'virtual' versions of the original Articulate cards online at https://t.co/e7WtvuE91m for lockdown, to help people play remotely via Zoom etc. with friends and family. Hope this helps, and all best wishes! Alex/DP
