.@PictureSporting@WG_RumblePants Two England captains, possibly the best ’keeper of all time & several @KentCricket colleagues attempt, unsuccessfully, to get the game on @SNBCC in July 1967, as an SLA great looks on with disdain.

For all those of a certain age, walking cricket is a great way of remaining active in the game & @LancsCricketFDN promotes mixed sessions in Crumpsall, Eccles, Lancaster, Southport & Wythenshawe, with female only groups in Bolton & at Old Trafford. Come along & give it a go. 🏏
@Stephen00840132@LancsCricketFDN Where are you based Stephen? The LCF runs sessions all over the county, so you should be able to find one near you. Check out their website for venues.
Stands would be good, any marquee is at the host club’s expense & the days of financial support from the local authority are long since gone, plus it takes a massive volunteer effort to stage a 4 day game! The gentlemen shown here are all @SNBCC volunteers.
Taking the game to the people at outgrounds is fantastic for the game
But supporters have to be mindful of the costs involved to put these matches on and the requirement criteria each host venue has to meet
It's not just simply knocking up some temp stands and marquees and rocking up to play

@SagarH62 Here he is @SNBCC with batting partner @geoffh254 in July 1982, following their 4th wicket stand of 470 in Warwickshire’s game with Lancashire. Kallicharan made 230 not out & Humpage 254 in the Bears first day total of 523-4 declared, but they still went on to lose by 10 wickets!
Broughton, Castleton, Castleton Moor, Cheetham (not Cheetham Hill, although that wasn’t used for cricket for a number of years), Rusholme, South Manchester (not South West Manchester) & Warrington New Town all played in the Association during its lifetime, but no longer exist.
It’s not everyday you can stroll down to your local club & find two former England captains playing on opposite sides & the recent No 1 bowler in the World turning their arm over. But it happened yesterday @SNBCC & some will be back there on 13th May. 🤩 https://t.co/L5oeZ7odFu

A welcome initiative, joining the 2 existing walking cricket groups in Merseyside, at Thatto Heath Crusaders sports barn in St Helens on Wednesdays & Dunes Leisure Centre in Southport on Thursdays. 🏏
O50s Walking Cricket @gotosplashworld has proved so popular that we are moving to a 2 hour session w.e.f. 2nd April. Come along on Thursday morning & give it a go.🏏
