You only got “it was a running start” analysis on the broadcast…I wish they would have better explained how this worked, so allow me…
1. Watch Schooler’s eyes. He’s not timing the snap…he’s timing the *kicker’s sequence*. They should have shown replays of that!!!…you can bet it was identical kick-to-kick. And somebody picked up on as much for the Pats, so perfect.
2. He’s not even looking at the long snapper. He knows the amount of time from kick sequence steps to snap to kick. You’d have to KNOW that was going to be the case from film study—repeatedly spot on timing—or you’d risk running into the line or jumping offsides
3. This was an amazing block made possible by film study. Now every ST operation they face will need to change up kick sequence timing play to play or risk have this happening to them. Which I’m sure kickers—the creatures of timing & habit that they are—aren’t gonna love. Game changing kinda chess move here. Absolutely love it.
