@AndreBJones2@cover_dark@Sinfulskin2 I guess if you want to split hairs on definitions we could have this arguement. States thought they could legally leave the union. There was no precedent one way or the other on it. Texas even wrote that they could into their state constitution π€·ββοΈ
@AndreBJones2@cover_dark@Sinfulskin2 Lol trying to back me into an awkward position of defending the confederacy?
Enemy, yes. Seditious...π€·ββοΈ
They weren't trying to stir up violence against the government. They were trying to leave it. Same as the Founding Fathers, except we like that cause so we celebrate it yearly.
@AndreBJones2@cover_dark@Sinfulskin2 I think we could probably ask that same question about different groups for days and still only end up with speculation.
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 They had in mind that people who broke the law should be punished and set up our justice system to take account for the fact that there are bad people in the world.
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 Excellent point. Since words are used differently hundreds of years on, lets see what it meant to the Founding Fathers back then.
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few public officials."
-George Mason
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 Youre right, but cigarettes, cars and restaurants arent protected under the constitution. Also, make everyone pay insurance in case they ever become a criminal, to pay for all the damage and theft that would cause.
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 If by corrupted you mean we infringed upon a constitutional right that speficifaclly says it cant be infringed upon, youre right. But even with that, im not here to make a case for fully automatic weapons.
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2 So...so liberals and progressives are the ones keeping their kids at home to school because theyre afraid of guns? I dont think thats right. Not for the most part anyway. Id have to see some research showing thats the case for me to believe it
@cover_dark@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 Theres literally hundreds of thousands of home break ins every year in the US. Now, in fairness, almost half of those happen when the home is unoccupied. I dont see a reason to take that chance though.
@AndreBJones2@cover_dark@Sinfulskin2 Well, it seems we both agree that people shouldnt break the law. Punishing law abiding citizens for the actions of criminals is where we disagree.
@cover_dark@kangaroos991 Lol seriously though, one of the biggest reasons i took a break from Twitter is because all of the mass Biden lies and corruption. Its sickening to watch people defend him because just because hes part of the same ideological team.
@AndreBJones2@Sinfulskin2 The large majority of handguns and most rifles are semi automatic, so youre right about that. Shotguns, depending on age, disability, etc. may be a very poor choice for home defense. Im glad my wife can use a semiautomatic if multiple intruders break in and Im not home.
