We at the WLNE-NABET union have made the decision to open a gofundme to help cover the expenses of members that have been affected by the consolidation of our station into Sinclair 📣 1/2

Save ABC6! The consolidation of RI local news at the hands of Sinclair jeopardizes the balance of unbiased journalism and threatens union jobs. ABC6 deserves to stay a distinct live broadcast from NBC10, and maintain every current employee. Stand with ABC6 against monopolization!
@DanMcGowan Our reporters, photographers, and producers all support the action and stand strong with this decision to pressure management into hearing our wage proposals. We still asked them to share emergency information, but negotiations have stalled for months
Today, Providence City Council President @RachelRI announced that the city council will be honoring an “informational boycott” of @WLNEUnion @ABC6 television news station, the ABC affiliate for the Providence market, in response to a request from workers at the station who have been engaged for over a year in contract negotiations with parent company Standard Media.
On Thursday, City Councilors @Juanmpichardo (Ward 9) and @MSanchezPVD (Ward 6) with City Council Chief of Staff @Junesfinalrose joined @WLNEUnion members outside of the ABC6 to demand long-stagnated wage increases for @ABC6 workers.
No one sees how unbelievably hard people in news media work quite like political comms staffers. So OF COURSE I stand with @WLNEUnion as they demand fair wages from @ABC6.
(And very grateful to @pvdcitycouncil who unanimously passed a resolution in support. ❤️✊)
Join us on October 10 for a half hour of solidarity, strength, and volume as we let management know we deserve the raises we they have withheld for years
Management has suspended a union member for refusing to do work outside of their job description due to medical reasons. All solidarity to our member. We are fighting for them in every way possible.
Congrats to @ABC6 staff on voting overwhelmingly to unionize and join @NABETCWA!
This is a significant step towards supporting workers who are the backbone of our democracy and preserving quality, local journalism.
