- Farmers warning about food prices and supply for the year ahead.

Burnham's big response? Ask shops to stop selling disposable barbecues. Downing Street's own press release on the "emergency" Cobra meeting didn't mention climate change once.
Then he went on GB News. To talk about migrant camps.
I've been saying he's a repackaged Starmer. I'm starting to think it's worse than that. He doesn't have a clue.

I’m so scared by this interview - not just because of what Prof Anderson says - but because it’s a reminder these leading experts don’t get airtime in the mainstream.

The discussion about climate change in our broken media is members of the public talking crap on phone ins, dim commentators discussing it over a cuppa on magazine style shows, or people debating how expensive Net Zero is on Newsnight.

We never get to hear the most important information from the most important experts. It’s disastrous how uniformed the public are.

Andy Burnham’s government has approved a new data centre near Brick Lane in East London despite widespread local opposition, as the city suffers its worst drought in decades.

Housing secretary Angela Rayner last week overturned a July 2025 decision by Tower Hamlets council to scrap the project at the Truman Brewery, which was proposed by Truman Estates and Zeloof LLP.

The 5,200 sq metre data centre on Grey Eagle Street will use up to 5.2MW – the same amount of power as 15,000 homes, according to the Save Brick Lane campaign group. Its proximity to the City will allow high-frequency traders to shave milliseconds off their transaction times.

Projections for the project’s water consumption have not been released, but data centres typically use huge quantities to cool their servers. Even with cooling, the heat they emit can increase local temperatures, while the demands they place in the grid often increase infrastructure costs, leading to higher household bills.

Labour minister Matthew Pennycook said in a published decision that the development will go ahead after “an assessment of potential impacts… on groundwater levels”.

Thousands of people have signed a petition urging the government to scrap the project. After the Aspire-led council rejected the project, then-housing secretary Steve Reed took the decision out of the council's hands in October 2025 so that the government would have final say.

The developers also plan to build offices, a cinema, a supermarket and 44 homes, including six for social rent.

Save Brick Lane said the development “offers almost nothing to local stakeholders and the community” and “only a tiny amount of social and affordable housing”.

It added: “This development will threaten the livelihood of existing independent shops and businesses in Brick Lane.”

Around 100 new data centres are currently planned across the UK, according to researchers Barbour ABI. Critics warn that data centres are accelerating global warming and climate collapse.

London, along with around half of England, is experiencing its worst drought in decades. July was the first month since records began where no rainfall was recorded at a weather station in Kew Gardens.

With her salary of £93,904, expenses, allowances, donations and gifts, Samantha has done very well since becoming an MP. 🌞

On 5th August 2026, Samantha posted a video from her sunny holiday destination and asked viewers not to “hate” her for having a holiday. It was important she said for MPs to “preserve our battery to function well.” Still, she wasn’t very happy and repeatedly called the 5th August a “shit day” due to the Supreme Court ruling on transgender rights. 🏖️

We shouldn’t forget that Samantha’s battery was in good working order when she voted to scrap the winter fuel payment for pensioners, when she voted for the welfare changes that will result in more anxiety and uncertainty for sick and disabled people, when she initially voted to retain the two-child benefit cap which was a primary contributor to child poverty, voted against an inquiry into grooming gangs and voted to restrict trials by jury.

In her fraught holiday video, Samantha said that people “will realise how rubbish politicians are”.

Is she right?
