@familiarhuman@max_power044@BikeMan Yeah, Metallica had the first half of the decade locked down with The Black Album singles. But the Load/Reload era was only big on MTV. Never heard 90% of that stuff on rock stations around my way in the 90s. But Pumpkins were always on the radio or in my tape deck.
@MavNoir It was pretty amazing. College life was too busy for TV so we hadn’t even see a trailer. One Saturday, a friend said, “There is a new sci-fi movie in theaters that is supposed to be interesting.” We had no idea what we were about to witness.
To be clear: this entire thing went off the rails because Zelensky made the catastrophically offensive move of pointing out the reality that Putin broke a ceasefire in 2015 and that when Vance talks about diplomacy, he can’t explain how Putin is a trustworthy partner.
Zelensky simply spoke the truth, which Vance deemed totally unacceptable and offensive because he was trying to “litigate” the issue in front of the press.
And then it unraveled from there. Just wild.
Beware of any Christian movement that demands the government be an instrument of God's wrath but never a source of God's mercy, generosity, or compassion.
@OnwardnUpward2@scott_m_coley He probably agrees the blue collar’s opinion isn’t more valuable. But when was the last time you saw an insurance worker asked to a grad speech at a uni? That’s the critique. Why should he have any reason to deliver comments to graduates? What makes his opinion valuable?
@TWLadyGrey I think it was Mitch. The man is a ghoul, but he seems to at least understand the damage that new Republicanism is doing to the brand. And he cares about US foreign power. Johnson mentioned legacy and history in his speech, and used the ideas in a way that sounds like Mitch.
Donald Trump today: “Why isn’t Europe giving more money to help Ukraine? Why is it that the United States is over $100 Billion Dollars into the Ukraine War more than Europe…”
This is a lie.
If you’re curious why activists have all gone insane it’s because, like journalism before it, activism used to be something done by blue collar working class people responding to an urgent need, but now thanks to the internet it’s a playground for the failchildren of the elite.
@lindsayfickas Totally fair reason to not be into a band. I was old enough by the time they made it that I didn’t know another fan irl and just lived in my own blissful world of not knowing about how they were the simultaneous most over-rated and most under-rated band in the world.
@megjoyruss @lindsayfickas I second this. You managed to out the deranged with this post. My fav is the new conservative tactic of yelling “Christian nationalist” for suggesting Jesus’ words mean something. Then, these morons cheer when the gov strips rights they don’t like under the guise of their faith.
@lindsayfickas Because it’s obviously not real history unless it’s history that men are interested in. We can’t help it if you can’t fixate on the Roman Empire as much as we do…
@lindsayfickas That tweet about that awful Paul McCartny song actually being good should probably make you feel bad, but with such a well thought-out and sincere fan encouraging you, I see why you’ve had the strength to carry on.
@Eve6 Unfortunately, based on the whiney cancel-culture bemoaning lyrics in their newest single, he might fit in with them. Don’t know if they were always that way and hid it or if they just got old and grumpy but yuck.
@PeterSciretta I am so there with you. And it’s weird because I’m such a big SW nerd. I think part of it is that I can’t get into the villians. The pirates just seem too much like the https://t.co/ItHbZ9IGrr version of Marcos and his Belters from The Expanse novels.
