The Red Carpet Kitty Show - Holiday Edition is held annually on the first Saturday of December. It is part of our biannual fundraising efforts. The next time the #redcarpet will be out is in July on the first Saturday which is #indepenceday. Our #museum is 100% guest funded & we couldn’t be prouder of that fact. We are so excited this year to be bringing you, the #catlovers, who generously #support us every day not just one, but three Red Carpet Kitty Event days this December.

Today the American Museum Of The House Cat announced that it has joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits. The program supports those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits visiting the American Museum Of The House Cat for a minimal fee of Three Dollars ($3.00) per person, up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 850 museums across the country.

You asked. We answered. The American Museum of the House Cat is now open everyday. Our operating hours are 10:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Saturday and Sunday hours will remain 12:00pm - 5:00pm.

PleaseNote:

We may be occasionally closed on some mid-week days for inventory, museum maintenance, or special event. These will be pre-announced on our social media channels and a notification will appear on our front door. Thank you for your understanding on these days.

When winter weather is predicted our hours of operation may change due to road conditions and inclement weather advisories across the mountains of Western North Carolina.
