You may be willing to accept historical costumes that mix elements from different cultures and periods, even when the result does not accurately represent the era being portrayed. But I wonder whether you would be equally accepting if your own people’s history and cultural heritage were treated this way. For us, this is a sensitive issue, and that deserves to be understood rather than dismissed.
You said the costume designer mixed various Lanna elements with embellishments inspired by Chinese or Korean adaptations, which made the costumes look Burmese because of the historical image of Burmese influence on Lanna. But this explanation raises more questions than it answers. A general impression of Burmese influence cannot, by itself, explain or justify every design choice. If the costumes were deliberately created by combining elements from different cultures and periods, then we need to distinguish artistic interpretation from historically grounded representation.
And if your explanation accurately reflects the production’s intentions and research, why has GMMTV not publicly clarified the historical references and design process, especially when these costumes have raised serious cultural concerns? We cannot assume that the explanation is correct simply because it sounds plausible. The production team’s actual sources and intentions need to be established, not guessed on its behalf.
I also want to make one thing clear: I am only discussing the costumes at this stage. There are other cultural and historical concerns that I have not even addressed yet. Please do not reduce the entire discussion to whether Lanna had its own culture or whether Myanmar and Lanna influenced each other historically. Neither point answers the specific questions being raised about the series.
This is not about denying Lanna’s identity, nor is it about claiming that every similar-looking design must belong to Myanmar. It is about asking whether the historical and cultural elements presented on screen have been researched responsibly, whether their origins and historical contexts have been properly considered, and whether the production has taken cultural sensitivities seriously.
What may seem like harmless creative embellishment to one person can feel deeply disrespectful to another community when its heritage appears to be mixed, misrepresented, or used without adequate historical grounding. Fiction allows creative freedom, but it does not make legitimate questions about cultural representation disappear.
We are asking for evidence, transparency, and respect—not for anyone to erase Lanna culture or automatically attribute everything to Myanmar. If the production has a solid historical basis for its choices, it should be able to explain that basis clearly. Until then, dismissing these concerns as nothing more than a misunderstanding of Lanna history is not a meaningful answer.

Even tho historical records differ, we understand that some creative liberties are needed to build tension in a drama. Myanmar viewers can appreciate the creativity while acknowledging historical differences. It's show we're open-minded while respecting history n storytelling.
Our intention regarding the current situation is clear. 🇲🇲🙏
We have absolutely no intention or desire to attack or hate Thailand or the Thai people.
During the GMMTV Live, it was mentioned that this series incorporates elements from Myanmar culture along with cultures from other countries. Therefore, we are simply asking GMMTV to show respect to the cultures used and to give appropriate and proper credit.
All we want is for GMMTV to issue an official clarification and provide a suitable resolution regarding this issue. There is no other intention behind our actions.
We love and respect the Thai people, and we have always supported and enjoyed Thai series. However, since this matter involves Myanmar culture, we are only requesting that our traditional culture be appropriately acknowledged and credited.
Our request is not meant to attack anyone. It is solely about respecting our culture and taking responsibility to address this situation properly.
We hope everyone can understand our intentions.

Even if you’re a BL fan, the moment you’re a Myanmar citizen, you will never be treated equally as other fans. And I say this with a genuinely heavy heart, because it hurts more than words can express.
GMMTV’s disrespectful treatment of Myanmar fans did not begin with this incident. There have been countless issues in the past, but this time, you have finally pushed me to the point where I can no longer support GMMTV.
People may keep defending the artists by saying that this has nothing to do with them, but one thing cannot be denied: they ignored our voices.
We spent our time and energy trending hashtags for them. We traveled all the way from Myanmar to Bangkok to attend their events, spending enormous amounts of money just to support them. And please, don’t tell us that they never asked us to do these things. Time and time again, we have been encouraged to support them, help them trend, and show up for them. We did all of that because we genuinely loved them. We gave our time, effort, money, and unwavering support because they mattered to us.
So don’t tell me they couldn’t possibly have known what was happening this time. We had been speaking up about this issue, making our voices heard again and again. Yet, seeing them laughing, smiling, and happily carrying on with their movie promotional livestream as if nothing had happened was genuinely heartbreaking.
And as if being ignored wasn’t painful enough, one of your own artists has now posted an Instagram Story that we, as Myanmar fans, feel was mocking us. Do you understand how humiliating and hurtful that feels? We were already trying to make our voices heard about an issue that deeply affects us, only to feel as though we were being laughed at instead of taken seriously. Is this how your company and its artists treat fans who have spent so much time, money, and love supporting them? We never expected to be put on a pedestal. We simply expected basic respect.
All I could think was: How could you do this to us?
Do we mean so little to you that you cannot even acknowledge our pain? Do our feelings not matter enough for you to spare us even a moment of consideration? We never expected special treatment. We simply wanted the same respect and consideration that other fans receive.
Yes, GMMTV may have been the source of this problem, but the artists have disappointed me deeply, too. Their silence and disregard have hurt just as much as the company’s actions. And when an artist’s social media post makes fans feel mocked while they are already hurting, it only deepens that disappointment. Whether that was the intention or not, the impact on the fans who were already speaking up cannot simply be dismissed.
Whatever explanation or solution GMMTV comes up with now, I don’t think it will change how I feel. Some disappointments go too deep for an apology to fix. Trust is not something you can demand from fans after repeatedly making them feel unheard and disrespected.
This is where I draw the line. I will no longer support GMMTV or its artists—not now, not in the future. I gave them my support out of genuine love, but I will not continue supporting people who make me feel that my nationality makes me less deserving of respect.
We were fans who supported them wholeheartedly. We gave them our time, our money, our energy, and our love. The least we deserved was to have our voices heard—not ignored, not dismissed, and certainly not made to feel like a joke.
We were good enough to support you, trend your hashtags, spend our money on you, and travel across borders for you. So why aren’t we deserving of the same basic respect in return?

The political instability and the current economic hardship of our country are not justifications for anyone to shamelessly misappropriate and steal our traditional cultural heritage. Similarly, GMMTV dismissing the issue with a single vague excuse—claiming it's just fiction containing Myanmar cultural inspirations—without giving a clear and accountable explanation, is utterly disgraceful.
A country's culture and traditions are not things that can be casually taken and used under the guise of 'fiction and inspiration.' If that were acceptable, would you find it appropriate if other countries used Thailand's traditional attire and customs as their own and showcased them to the world, simply excusing it as part of a fictional setting?
Please respect our traditional cultural heritage.
