COMMUNITY RESILIENCE: The WOFIMA Project wasn't just about constructing improved traditional smoking kilns, our impact has now been extended to more Butunduzi town council women participating in fish supply and value addition through innovative entrepreneurship skills.
Participants were also equipped with fish handling MANUAL TRANSLATED in local language for easy understanding on how to curb poor fish handling practices that lead to Economic losses in their businesses.

(WOFIMA) conducted a training session for 33 fish traders and mongers (24 are women) in Mabira TC Market, Kyenjojo. The training focused on improving skills in fish handling, storage, and marketing to reduce post-harvest losses.

Participants were encouraged to adopt sustainable practices in fish sourcing and marketing. The initiative supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by addressing malnutrition and promoting women's economic empowerment

Today, as the world celebrates #WorldFisheriesDay, we highlight the incredible work of our alum @PsNyakoojo an accomplished Ichthyologist who has dedicated the past 5 years to advancing fisheries management, wetland ecosystem preservation, water quality monitoring, and fish breeding.
It is essential to recognize that 600 million people worldwide rely on small-scale fisheries and aquaculture for their livelihoods. Patrick's work is making a significant impact in this area.
Through his project, supported by the #YALIVisibilityFund with funds from @usmissionuganda, @WOFIMA_project has empowered over 120 women in #Kyenjojo by providing entrepreneurship skills, culinary training in fish value addition, and improved traditional smoking kilns.
His efforts have not gone unnoticed as he has recently been nominated for the Young Fisheries Entrepreneurship Award at the 2024 @SFAAwards
