It’s not slightly worse it’s much worse. The graph is measured in standard deviations, not percent. Also, surpassing a once in several millennia drought is not a good thing. Considering the drought is getting worse and rainfall has not made up for the problems, the end is not yet in sight. Much of the drought is directly caused by anthropogenic climate change as opposed to the regular droughts throughout the millennia.
@desertveteran@DannyTanne79466@esjesjesj Sorry but you are just wrong. California is under an unprecedented drought rn, and the severity has been brought on by climate change.

@DannyTanne79466@desertveteran@esjesjesj Not as dry as it is now, even when it was under a mega drought.

@DannyTanne79466@desertveteran@esjesjesj People have generally reported it being somewhat dry. It’s gotten worse. Here are measures of groundwater loss that has resulted in the ground sinking many feet.
@Chuosta@dysmemic@FacebookAIslop @Mark_Espee It's just disturbing because we can tell the video is fake, but we have no way of knowing if the comment is fake.
Some were not dealt with and others were. The point is that the frequency/severity of them is getting worse.
Many states, including California, have had a lot of irresponsible farm/land use.
Because of this, most of the water that was stored underground in natural reservoirs has been used. This has led to the near destruction of the Colorado river and many ecosystems.
Rising temperatures also increase evaporation over land, meaning there is less water refilling those aquifers. All of this leads to dryer conditions which increase the probability of a fire.
You are partially correct. Many forest fires are directly caused by weather and poor land management, but the risk of a fire is also determined by things like dryness, the water table, and wind patterns, all of which are being affected by climate change. The weather itself is also directly affected. These are predicted downstream effects of climate change.
DID YOU KNOW for 25 years Matthew Shepard had no permanent resting place due to concerns his grave would be vandalized, and when Reverend Budde learned of this, she invited the Shepards to inter him inside the Washington National Cathedral. She co-officiated the service which stated Matthew was now and forever home in the church where he was loved.

She was and is a real hero.
@PhysaliaPr1m3@silencedvoter@ilanaariel@SenTinaSmith I think it’s implied that any change to what doctors can and cannot do legally comes with some form of prosecution, especially in the modern day with current domestic politics.
There are two general issues. First, the law is incredibly redundant for the purposes of providing care to infants born. Second, while its quite vague, it does seem to make no expressed consideration for the child's viability, citing age rather than condition, viability, etc.
Like all bills, it depends on how it is interpreted by the courts. It could either be completely useless and just pandering, or it forces unnecessary care on providers that will only traumatize parents and cause further harm to the child. Im not a lawyer, so this is somewhat outside of my wheelhouse.
@silencedvoter@ilanaariel@SenTinaSmith You are 100% correct. My central point is that this bill requires the doctors to try to save a life that will certainly die independent of intervention. People hear “doctors won’t try to save babies lives” and let their emotions run. The reality is that you can’t save everyone.
@ilanaariel@silencedvoter@SenTinaSmith The operative words being “can be.” If a baby can be saved they are already required to try, if not they will provide palliative care. This is very simple.
These are not botched abortions, they are successful. Any artificial termination of pregnancy is an abortion, irrespective of whether the fetus is killed in the process or not. When doctors induce delivery, that is an abortion. I don’t know of any specific statistics but I will look for them when I have more time.
@ilanaariel@silencedvoter@SenTinaSmith There is no saving these babies. Their conditions are fatal. You are supporting a bill that forces doctors to cause pain and trauma to thousands of dying infant for no potential gain. This also traumatized the parents and gives them a false hope. WTF is wrong with you?
@ilanaariel@silencedvoter@SenTinaSmith Unfortunately, many babies do have these horrible conditions. Doctors are already legally and ethically required to render aid to a baby that can be saved, but for those that cannot, they will do the humane thing and either terminate the fetus or provide palliative care.
