People need to stop misconstruing sexualization as objectification, they are separate.
Humans are mammals, we have sex and are attracted to things. Just because a person or character is dressed/drawn sexually does not mean you suddenly start viewing them as an object.
This correlation people make is a slippery slope. Checked out a hot guy at the beach? Objectification, have a crush on a woman and glance at her cleavage? Objectification. A boyfriend checks out his girlfriend? Objectification.
It's silliness. For a generation that promotes sexual freedom they demonize anyone who actually wants to engage with it.
It's important to understand women and men are sexualized differently, For men it's often by highlighting their masculine traits. Both are okay.
Also, it is impossible to "objectify" a fictional character. I.P = Intellectual PROPERTY. They are essentially intellectual objects.
so israeli sportsman can wear a kippah with the names of killed sportsman and it's not politics
but ukrainian sportsman cannot wear a helmet with the names of the killed sportsman because it is politics.
am i right?
figure skating men these days cant skate clean AND have edges AND quads AND musicality at the same time apparently. imagine if they hadnt literally chased yuzuru out of the sport. the man is still skating his olympic programmes for FUN. he'd be the katie ledecky of figure skating
Yes, which is why after watching NBC Hannibal several times over, I am now a cannibal. 🙄
"That's ridiculous" Yes it is. Why are we infantilizing grown ass adult women and insisting they are too stupid to realize that not everything they experience in fiction is okay irl?
