It's shameful how we remove some kids from homes & put them into the foster care system b/c their parents can't afford to provide for them, but then pay strangers to provide for those kids instead of supporting the parents. Punishing those struggling with poverty makes no sense.

- Trump is on the ballot this November,
- which is potentially quite good for Democratic turnout

I started doing that when watching big trucks in heavy traffic. Because those drivers really didn’t want to be shifting all the time with their 15-speed transmissions.

For me, manuals give me:
- precise throttle control as motor rpm and wheel rpm are mechanically linked
- always in the gear _I_ want, shifting _when_ I want
- and most critically missing now: shifting at the speed / smoothness I want for _that_ shift.

I’ve found that unless you’re surrounded by extremely aggressive lane changers, you can let a buffer open and then try to time catching up to the car in front of you just as they start moving again.
