Silver not backing off this morning means that this is not the same as the peak in 2011 engineered by Obama. This is the opposite of that.

When silver was spiking towards $50 in 2011, the CME raised margin requirements by 12.5% (if memory serves), it was a lot more than normal.

A couple of hours later Obama "announced" that Seal Team 6 had killed Osama bin Laden. I'm sure bin Laden had been killed well before that but the 'announcement' was times with the peak in the silver market.

Here's what that really means. A spike in silver deliveries into that peaking price was squeezing someone's nuts at the LBMA in London, downstream of the vaporization of Bear Stearns over its commodities-futures position.

In hindsight, I now have to think of Bear as a kind of Financial WMD aimed at the heart of the US financial system, which would cause a collateral chain reaction ending up with the 2008 GFC (Fannie/Freddie nationalization, AIG bailouts, Lehman scuttled, etc. QE, ZIRP/NIRP).

Silver was used as the magnesium stick to 'light the fuse' and then it was taken off the board as there really was enough silver to cover delivery obligations (H/T @sorenthek).

The price of silver collapsed that night and didn't recover that Sunday night high until last fall.

This time, however, we have a Maduro raid during an epic fight for silver and reports of the US taking delivery of the silver stored there...

And the price this morning is UP $4-5/oz not DOWN $4-5/oz like in 2011.

This is the EXACT OPPOSITE scenario. If the other reports are true (big if, please verify) that the US is landing multiple cargo and military aircraft in the UK, then we are taking back sovereign gold and silver held by the Bank of England etc. for future deployment.

Conclusion: If this throughline is correct, then this is just the beginning.
