@Fimb@unknownfield@BethanyMiles__ Correct, but if they are personal expenses, if refunded then income would be taxable. For example, if my employer pays my personal phone bill, pecuniary liability & hence taxable via payroll.
@Fimb@unknownfield@BethanyMiles__ Could be argued that campaigning is personal expenditure as trying to promote their future career, if that’s funded by donations then donations should be taxed & expenses not tax relief able
@Fimb@unknownfield@BethanyMiles__ Politicians will never be trusted as long as they accept “donations”, regardless of of whether they declare it or not
@David90shaw If the PM genuinely wanted to support “the North”, then surely his staff should be from that area or be required to move there, otherwise how can they understand the problems faced by that grim place outside the M25
@Fimb@unknownfield@BethanyMiles__ So what we are saying here is that she can’t do her job properly without donations, even though MPs have large expense allowances. So surely the answer is to ban “donations” & increase allowances. Donations to charity, a good cause; political donations, they want something back
@TobiFrenzen Hopefully all the lunatics on mopeds with L plates on will be included in this, shouldn’t be able to deliver pizzas etc if you haven’t got a full licence; amazed their insurance covers them for it
@TomK_Brit1993 Well he’s had two weeks, made a load of TikTok videos & then gone on holiday, not really what I’d expect from a serious PM, especially when we are told that there is so much to put right after 2 years of a labour government
@UKLabour It’s all very well having new “centres”, but if there’s no one suitably qualified to staff them what’s the point. It’s people we need not buildings, & people who listen to patients & carers, rather than the current lot who run the system by how the book says
@TomK_Brit1993 My concern is that we already paying more tax than ever, but services are getting worse. We should be targeting wasted public spending, including overseas aid, before looking at increasing taxes. The state is too big & clumsy, radical overhaul is needed
@cgdav135 Can we test taxi drivers every 10 years as some of the worst drivers on the road, also some demographics have no idea about driving on motorways, dangerous to target just one group
@SuzanneEvans1@ArchbishopSarah@churchofengland The leaders expect people to follow, regardless of whether or not the path is what everyone else wants, you see it in the church, in government, & all it leads to is destruction of what you lead; but they don’t care, it’s their righteousness that matters to them
@centre_right_ They maybe only making 2% but if they can afford to give huge discounts by using a clubcard for example, their standard prices are clearly overstated
@BasilTheGreat@Telegraph If you’re fasting, surely you will have less energy to pursue criminals, but then again looking at the size of some officers, going on a fasting diet may be a good thing
