For those not yet aware, private British water companies have been illegally dumping tonnes of raw sewage into the rivers and beaches across the UK.

Not a handful of times, but thousands of times every day, over many many years.

Rivers once crystal clear and brimming with freshwater fishes and fishing birds, are now brown, stinking, and carrying deadly disease.

Children have died from infections contracted by playing on beaches they did not realise were polluted with human waste.

In Oxford, we have old traditions of jumping into the rivers and wild swimming. We can’t do this anymore because raw sewage is regularly discharged into the water.

These ecocidal actions were built intentionally into business models, fines were accepted as small hits beside enormous profits, and any attempts to regulate them were thwarted.

Our politicians intentionally removed environmental regulations, and this is where it led.

Woman on tiktok reported how she and her husband got root canals on the same day, same doc. He got percoset, she got ibuprofen. Dentist said, "women handle pain better." Comment section filled with women reporting similar experiences. You will never convince me that patriarchy & gender inequality isn't to blame for this cruelty. Underneath the "women can handle pain better" line is "women are supposed to suffer."
