"The entire population of North Gaza is at risk of dying."
This is a statement from the United Nation's most senior humanitarian official.
She could not be more explicit.
Her statement is barely covered by the Western media.
Those carefully styled ponytails and braids, the dark blue tights beneath your cotton dress, the seemingly new schoolbags, and the hair ties perfectly matching your outfit.. Who would guess you've been living in a tent for over a year? Who would imagine last night was another sleepless night of Israeli bombardment? Who would know about the nights you've spent begging your parents, pleading not to die burned alive or in the bombing of your fabric tent? Who would suspect your parents likely struggle to secure your lunch when you return to the tent at noon? It's genocide! They've bombed your schools! You're still studying in displacement camps?!
But I do understand, after all, you're Palestinian.. If you were starving and handed one pound, you’d probably buy a notebook and pencil to write what your oppressor would kill you to keep unread.
Good morning, my Gaza.
this image has sat with me for some time. the tenderness of freshly picked flowers placed in a tea cup, the gentle ritual of steeping tea leaves. all against the backdrop of mutilation and destruction
Palestinians being rounded up and executed by Israel as the world watches on.
I don’t ever want to hear the words human rights and international law mentioned again. They don’t exist.
every child you see with mangled legs being hopelessly carried, every person you see lit on fire, all the dust covered faces, they were a whole universe. to themselves and everybody they knew. lives as complex, joyful and difficult as yours. it kills me. i’ll never get numb to it
