Jamil Jivani's statement blaming PM Carney for not reaching a trade agreement with the U.S. is contemptible. Jivani's loyalty lies with the U.S and J.D. Vance not Canada. Poilievre should announce today that Jivani is no longer a member of the Conservative caucus.
In his latest opinion piece for The Tyee, veteran journalist Andrew Nikiforuk cuts through the hype of Alberta’s AI data-centre boom. Responding to Premier Danielle Smith’s promotional video pitching the province as a tech powerhouse, Nikiforuk asks a hard question on behalf of the people who will live next to these projects:
“Rural Albertans, like working people everywhere, are asking why their communities should become sacrifice zones for multinational corporations hell-bent on constructing ugly windowless boxes to house computing power that will toss many out of work while sucking up capital, fossil fuel and water.”
A clear-eyed look at the real costs—power, water, land, and local livelihoods—behind the glossy sell job.

Did JD Vance kick off the official Con Party schism by big-upping Jivani and insulting Poilievre? It’s pretty obvious Jivani is gunning for the Con leadership and I can’t decide who’s more useless between him and Poilievre. What a rabid gibbon circus from hell.
@ConcernedAlb@DrJaredWesley Gov’ts make mistakes. It’s how we as Canadians are going to deal with it now. We have laws, institutions to make reports, and education. But to say you fear others and that maybe I should too, I’ll tell you I won’t until I have to. It’s not like we’re under martial law.
Recovering addict here, and I genuinely can't stop laughing at Pierre Poilievre pretending he understands addiction and recovery.
By this logic, basically every recovery service in Canada is “garbage” because people relapse. Newsflash: relapse happens in addiction recovery. Treatment isn't a magic wand.
And the idea that treatment centres will follow people around after rehab, drug test them, and then have their future government funding determined by whether former patients remain drug-free?
LMAO 🤣🤣🤣 THAT'S NOT HOW RECOVERY WORKS.
And where exactly are these 50,000 treatment beds coming from? Fairies? 🧚
Who's building them? Who's staffing them? Where are the doctors, nurses, counsellors, peer workers and support staff magically appearing from?
Then he wants to defund supervised consumption sites the exact places that can keep someone alive when relapse happens.
You can't claim to support recovery while defunding services that keep people alive long enough to reach it.
I've heard some dumb things come out of Pierre's mouth on addiction, but this might be the dumbest.
@ConcernedAlb@DrJaredWesley the problem is societal and it will be some time before we all remember what it means to be Canadian.
Our country is made of immigrants, some trickle in, waves for others. I like this about Canada, I’m proud of it. Our country has welcomed a lot of people who really needed us.
@ConcernedAlb@DrJaredWesley Here’s the thing, Canadians have laws that the RCMP work with at keeping the peace. Your fear of safety is unfounded. Besides the GoC has a list of 90+ terrorist entities, some Palestinian. This is not the issue,
Adriana LaGrange’s only justification for destroying the Canada Health Act is she does not want to inconvenience rich people who have to travel out of the province to jump the queue.
There is absolutely nothing equitable about what she is doing.
@ConcernedAlb Mom4 freedom ‘bases’ her entire argument on a singular event that happened in Vancouver two years ago. Not exactly the ‘rampant’ cause to be concerned for your personal safety. https://t.co/y1Ufgta4en
@ConcernedAlb@DrJaredWesley However you have made a specific reference to was it a protest, maybe, where you heard firsthand persons calling for ‘death to Canada’. I call bu**shit.
@RichelleWiseman As a former Albertan, born and raised in Edmonton and area, I am deeply disturbed by the UCP gov’t and their destructive ways. I hope Albertans vote for Canada in the referendum because a separatist win is a real and present threat.
The last pipeline built in Canada? A Liberal PM.
The next one? Looks like a Liberal PM.
The last tax cut? Liberal PM.
The last major tax creation? Conservative PM.
Paused the gas tax? Liberal PM.
Refused to do the same? Conservative Premiers.
The Conservatives run deficit after deficit. They don't lower taxes in a significant way, ever... In fact, in my lifetime they've created more than they've removed.
Conservatives branding themselves as "fiscally responsible" is absolutely fallacy.
They will point to one creative book keeping balaced budget across like 30 years and say "Look how we save you money!"
It's an absolutely fallacy.
The only people the Conservatives actually ever help out are the wealthy.
Stop being conned.
@ConcernedAlb@DrJaredWesley We all want the same, the sooner your crowd accepts all human beings and works together to make society safe, and prosperous then we’ll all be happy. Your side needs to check your tone, because you come across racist no matter what you say.
@TheBreakdownAB Holy whack a doodle. Sheesh. The ignorance of it. I feel like I’d have trouble if I knew someone had these views because I’d say to them they are wrong in their thinking and woefully misinformed.
#BoycottRoblaws Better yet, @MarkJCarney@CanadianPM, pass a law immediately that says all grocers must label their products with their country of origin!
Send a message: We urgently need action from the Federal Government to safeguard our public health care and protect patients by speaking out against the Alberta government’s Bill 11 and enforcing the Canada Health Act. https://t.co/eqfiAMQS70
For all the semi literate, angry little trolls that can't (or won't) grasp basic facts about supply management...here goes... It protects our industry by making sure farmers make enough profit to stay in business. Understand that? Now the US doesn't manage their supply. Instead they subsidize the industry with billions of dollars (taxpayer dollars) and American consumers (and dumbass MapleMaga) THINK they are getting a lower price while they are really not. They pay for those subsidies. So what would you prefer? A larger deficit or a little bit more for milk. By the way it's not just the "Quebec cartel" like I've seen some Goobers write. Alberta has supply management on their milk as well. It's called Alberta Milk. If the US dropped their subsidies their milk would be the same cost or a little bit higher than ours.
