@WoTDragonDaddy@LateRoundQB Probably worth noting as well that people arguing this as fans typically aren't arguing from a mathematical perspective. They're arguing from a psychological/emotional perspective of losing early. The argument continues because people aren't on the same playing field lol
This is well broken down. One point that isn't talked about is that as a fan you don't want the game lost sooner, but as an NFL team, if you're losing, you'd rather knowing earlier is a season long advantage. You're likely losing. Overtime has a cost. The IR list keeps growing.
So a lot of people are talking about how the Cowboys should have just kicked the PAT when they were down 8 at the end of that game, mostly because if it went to overtime, they were big favorites. They'd win the OT period.
Many of you have seen this chart — we'll start here.
One of the biggest issues we have as a society is platforming and magnifying loud people instead of smart & genuinely good people. It’s a huge reason for a ton of problems.
Good opportunity to point out that when you miscommunicate, especially when the field that you work in is COMMUNICATIONS, it's your fault. You weren't misunderstood. Your words were in bad taste and misrepresentative of a situation. That's on you. Respectable people don't divert.
@Pat_Thorman The really disappointing part for me is that ESPN will take the action they take, make it out to be his fault (when ch by no means is it not), and no one will be held accountable for the fact that they hired him to be loud and controversial. It makes them money and he's a shield.
I'm not going to say boomer, but this is an outdated take. Loyalty is a plea of people in power who see themselves losing it. Cleveland wasn't able to put a team around LeBron for 7 years. If you're in a situation where you can't extract value, move.
@creatrix_ttv For context, never joined a frat. I have this problem where I expect accountability for why we want to do things, which seems to irritate every short-sighted authority figure I have ever come across.
@creatrix_ttv I disagree on the aspect of hazing in this sense, because it teaches unquestioning loyalty to young adults, which is a pretty clear concern in the country's political climate today (on multiple ends).
To me, the goal of hazing should be for the group to say "fuck you" eventually.

New research on Creatine in treating mental degradation is pretty intriguing. Almost zero downside, though sounds like in your case it may be past saving. Sorry to hear this.
@PatMcAfeeShow My dad made the family into Steelers fans. Steelers were struggling headed into Christmas '08. Told Mom I just wanted the Steelers to make the playoffs for Christmas. Dad was battling cancer and passed on new years eve. That game in February though? Felt like a MOVIE.
@Nik_Papagiorgio@ryenarussillo You're correct. Jokic doesn't even get the credit he deserves. Probably prime Shaq level dominance. He's an X Factor himself, but teams seem to have learned what they can live with with jokic.
@Matt79213@ryenarussillo Not necessarily saying they don't. He's just the equalizer and the type of player it will take to remain competitive with OKC consistently. This is what public perception will likely be.
I'd critique this a bit. Winning feels like relief when you've won enough to expect it. Success begins to feel like a chore because it's expected. When you can't defy expectations, winning loses some of its luster. Winning as an underdog is the best feeling in the world.
Yup. They spoke about this on the Last Dance, the episode after the Bulls first three peat when they spoke about Michael Jordan being exhausted. It's like winning just feels like a relief or just whew more than it feels like joy. In the same episode you could see how motivated he was after the media crucified him.
