*What's behind Metalabel?*
Metalabel was inspired by specific theories about what the future-now holds: from post-individualism to world-building as self-care to the decline of the creator economy as we know it
Here are six core beliefs behind @metalabel_xyz 🧵
We’ve heard of the Great Resignation, but we’re skeptical; we don’t think employees necessarily want to exit in droves. We’re thinking of this as a Great Realignment—a moment when we can truly restructure the way we work. https://t.co/v1Dt1VFWTQ
Hybrid is a limiting term, it is an indicator of location rather than a way of working. When it’s now inevitable that every meeting will have someone on a screen, the more important #futureofwork problem to resolve is the future of collaboration.
"Becoming comfortable with async collaboration requires a shift … you cannot collaborate effectively if people don’t have the freedom to do the work they are asked to do. This shift benefits everyone. Autonomy empowers people, & empowered people are happier.”💫
“Humans still excel at social interaction, unpredictable physical skills, common sense, and, of course, general intelligence.” @davidautor@davidmindell @LReynoldsMITIPC https://t.co/NFWE4iA6Qr
The other end of the Zoom fatigue issue - rather taking away - i.e. turning off self view- @mmhmm seriously challenge us to up our video call game. We’re having lots of fun experimenting with it.
You can't have a "bored meeting" when you're steering your slides with a PS4 controller. Check out our guide to leveling up your video chat game: https://t.co/psDzZR4G3Q
Zoom fatigue is a real problem for distributed teams. For us, more immersive collaboration on calls takes emphasis away from the gallery of faces and onto better work, limiting how weary we get of Zoom or Teams.
Zoom fatigue is more common if you're not happy with your face.
New data: facial appearance dissatisfaction explains why Zoom fatigue is 15% higher among women than men and 11% higher among Asians than whites.
You wouldn't work in a room full of mirrors. Turn off the self-view.
McKinsey are recommending note-and-vote workshops rather than traditional brainstorming as a way to overcome bias. We are enthusiastic proponents of this kind of creative fairness. https://t.co/7R2qlBXr1Y
A rare and arresting counter to the prevailing ‘all financial innovation is good’ narrative - gives us an idea for a sustainability workshop tool.

What does “hybrid work” really mean? How can we create a culture that is inclusive of working from anywhere, at any time?
