[to my dearest friends] for the last time,

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

LinkedIn was built for 1 billion users. We're building for the small fraction who make the decisions.

We accept fewer than 30% of applicants across our five networks. As @AdamRy_n told A Media Operator, "You can have 4,000 people on your list and be one of the most influential people."

Readers who subscribe to a creator from our feed open that creator's newsletter at 64%. Everyone else opens at 30%.

The difference comes from how they subscribe.

They tap Subscribe on the post that convinced them, and they're on the list. There's no landing page and no form, so they never stop reading.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

Newsletter recommendations are live across Workweek.

Every newsletter picks three others in its community. When someone subscribes, they see those three on the confirmation screen and can subscribe in one tap.

An HR newsletter recommends HR newsletters, to people who just proved they want to read about HR.

Usually you pay for subscribers or grind for them. This costs neither.

A "good" newsletter open rate used to be 27%.

Now everyone reports 50%. Almost none of that jump is human.

Our CEO & Co-Founder, @AdamRy_n, dives deep into why on the newest episode of the AdTech Marketing Podcast.

On the Adtech Marketing Podcast today: @workweekinc CEO @AdamRy_n.

This is a great one for entrepreneurs + CEOs. We discuss competing and failing at school and athletics, learning to level with teachers, employees, and customers, and the common lies in b2b marketing.

Out now!

Shoutout to @khaslett for almost 50 straight issues of Fintech Takes Banking, one year in.

Banking execs don't skim it. They save it.

Proud she's part of Workweek and the @FinityWW Network.

Saw a number this morning I liked. It takes about 7 touchpoints before a B2B buyer trusts you enough for a real conversation. Most reps quit at 2.

The advice attached to it was all about the call. A better opener, a sharper question when they hit you with "just send me some info."

If it takes seven touches, the call isn't where trust gets built. It got built in the year before anyone dialed. The newsletter they actually read, the person in their space they've followed since before they had budget for you.

Nobody in that thread mentioned the money. Last touch credits the rep's closing email and none of the six touches that did the real work, so the budget that paid for them gets cut for not showing up in the report. Then the CMO gets asked why pipeline's soft.

You don't question your way out of that on the call.

If you run point on strategy, finance, or ops in healthcare, and want to be surrounded by the people who get that this sh*t is hard, then this is your room.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

Healthcare is one of the biggest industries in the country. The people actually running hospitals, health systems, and payers almost never get to say the job is hard.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

This is the place members can say it's hard here, and someone who's actually lived it answers back.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

A roll-up adds member counts.

We built verified operator networks, one per industry, checked room by room. Fintech talks to fintech. HR talks to HR.

Build enough rooms and the trust in one compounds into the rest.

A network of networks. It gets more valuable as it grows.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

fun and productive aren't opposites, somebody just decided they had to sound that way.

we named the company after the good version of the work week. the one where the work is real and you still laugh twice before lunch.

[Adam Ryan 🤝 @AdamRy_n]

one of the best creators ran people ops for years, never posted anything publicly. we talked her into it, and a year later she was being referred to as one of the best creators in the category. and she never left her job, so every issue is just what she actually ran into that week.

you dont have to be world class at the job. you dont have to be world class at the content either. but being great at both is what matters.

2021 made it feel like anything was buildable.

That part never stopped being true for us.

[Workweek 🤝 @workweekinc]

By 2023 we learned why: advertising only works when the voices carrying it are trusted. Take the trust away and no platform saves you.

Newsletters proved it first. Someone still has to choose to open the email.
